Heidi Newfield Goes Solo
If you don’t recognize the name Heidi Newfield, you might remember her as the perfect blonde chick from the group Trick Pony. The trio has been together since 1996, but she has decided that she will leave band mates Ira Dean and Keith Burns at the end of the year and go solo. In a statement, Heidi says, “I’ve decided to branch out and try it on my own, it’s time for me to follow my heart and take my own path.”
She says, “The combination of excitement and anxiety I feel right now reminds me of when I first left the comforts of home in Northern California to chase my dreams in Nashville, TN, with a few hundred dollars in my pocket, a beat-up Mercury and a passion for music, the good Lord helped me find my way. I know he’ll continue to guide my new path.”
Keith Burns wrote on their website saying, “It is true that Heidi has decided to leave the group and pursue a solo career and we wish her all the luck in the world. Following that news, both Ira and I began discussions with our manager and record label to find out what direction to take and what the future might bring for Trick Pony. We all agree that between Ira and I, we have a lot of great music left in us and our hearts still bleed Trick Pony.”
I’ve always been a fan of Trick Pony, I met them back in day at Fan Fair 2003. They were signing autographs and taking pictures on the sidewalk, next to Wildhorse Saloon. I thought it was pretty cool they just drove around and made random stops for their fans, it shows how dedicated they are. And they always had such great chemistry together and put on great shows. I wish her the best of luck as well as Ira and Keith.

Heidi is a strong willed gal, she will find sucess in whatever she does, I wish her the best of luck. I new her before she came to Nashville, we bought one of her step-father’s horses. We loved her mom very much, Heidi’s song for her mom makes me cry everytime I listen. She puts her heart and soul in everything she does!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Trick Pony was great with her, and is truly losing a superb versatile artist! Heidi if you remember me – Congratulations on your sucess, and I am truly sorry for the loss of your mom. (we bought Smitty’s Rose)
