Relentless might be the most boring, generic song that Jason Aldean has put out so far. I mean, yeah, granted only “Amarillo Sky” and “Why” have been anywhere close to being really good, but he sounds BORED singing that song. Having listend to his latest album there were at least 3 other songs that would have been better choices.

The Nashville Star expansion is purely economic as additional production costs to fill that extra half hour of airtime are moderate. The ratings dropped quite a bit from week one to week two but I’d say that’s due to Taylor Swift being featured on the first episode. If they feature Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus the ratings would explode assuming it wasn’t past bedtime for many of Miley’s fan base……

I like Emily West but her various styles and songs are sooooo non-mainstream country that I just can’t see Top 40 Airhead Country radio supporting her career in any meaningful way. From what I’ve heard on her live Opry performances she is primarily an excellent ballad singer and she seems to be straining a bit on “Rocks In Your Shoes”. I expect a “digital download only” release of her debut album unless she gets lucky like Sarah Johns and a physical CD actually sneaks out.

Wow, we need another tortuous half hour added to Nashville Star. I wonder why–oh yeah–they couldn’t fit enough pop music into the hour and a half so they had to expand it. Or maybe the extra half hour is for when the contestants actually sing country music!

Up here on the border, Nashville Star is on against CTV’s Canadian Idol….
CI is far more entertaining. The Canadian judges love eclectic singers and performers, so you never know who’s going to get praised. And Sass Jordan beats Snaggletooth as a judge any day.
