- A music collector and janitor were dismissed of any theft charges in a case involving a Hank Williams notebook, but must go to another court to decide who owns the treasure. The notebook contains seventeen songs written, but never recorded by Hank Williams. The janitor in the case claims that Sony marked the box containing the notebook as trash and instead of throwing it away he took the box home. The notebook itself is estimated to be worth $250,000. The box, which the janitor sold to a music collector, also contained items from Roy Orbison, Buck Owens and Conway Twitty.
- Chet Flippo wrote an interesting article about the spiritual journey Johnny Cash experienced throughout his life and the recently released Ultimate Gospel album.
Totally strung out and depressed by speed, Cash crawled into remote Nickajack Cave near Chattanooga, Tenn., a cave that was the site of a Native American slaughter and was also a Confederate soldiers’ hideout during the battle of Lookout Mountain. Cash, high on speed, crawled deep into the cave to die. Eventually, he had a revelation from God and slowly crawled back out, finding June and his mother at the cave entrance, as he wrote in his autobiography.
And to go along with it, here’s a very fitting video from YouTube of Johnny Cash live singing “Redemption.”
