Free Music: Kevin Costner & Modern West – Untold Truths
Courtesy of Universal Republic/Universal Records South, we have three copies of Untold Truths, the first-ever album from Kevin Costner and his band Modern West. Untold Truths is available in stores and online today.
From the bio:
The band’s history goes back some 20 years when Kevin first met band mate John Coinman in Los Angeles during an acting workshop. The two began playing and writing music together and soon after started a band called “Roving Boy.” As Kevin’s star began to rise, he was unable to devote much time to the band. However, he and some of the band members continued behind-the-scenes playing, writing, and recording anytime they could throughout the years.
A few years back the itch became stronger for Costner to start performing on a more regular basis. Costner recalls a performance back in August 2005 and remarks, “I remember looking out into the crowd, thinking ‘this just feels right’.” And with that, his passion continued to grow with the end product of that passion being the debut album, Untold Truths.
Here’s a video of the band performing “The Sun Will Rise Again”

I’m really looking forward to hearing what Costner is all about musically. My parents went to see him in concert and really liked it, so maybe it will be better than everybody thinks.
My favorite Costner movie, wow, tough one… he’s a great actor and I could list a ton. I’ll go with Open Range. I love westerns and Robert Duvall is awesome too… the story, the natural beauty, the gunfights… that was a really great movie, if you’re into that genre.

My favorite Coster movie is The Bodyguard, though Dances With Wolves is a close second.

my favorite kevin costner movie is ‘the big chill’. in that movie, he plays the part i truly think he deserves.

Can’t take him in anything but sports movies. I’ll say Tin Cup, but Bull Durham is a close second.

The only Kevin Costner movie i’ve seen was Dances With Wolves. The movie was ok but not my favorite

Clearly it’s ‘The Untouchables.’

That is quite possibly the most awful thing I have ever heard.

My favorite Kevin Costner movie was Mr. Brooks. I Love those kind of movies and I thought he played the part very well.
I also like Waterworld, I like making fun of it…

Allow me a few seconds to laugh. Ha ha ha ha ha.
Seriously. Honest to God, I have NEVER seen a Kevin Costner movie. Never. I have nothing against him, I just don’t watch movies much.

My favorite Kevin Costner movie is Dances With Wolves.

It comes down to ‘The Postman’ and ‘Waterworld’, but don’t ask me to choice. It’s like choosing between two children – two Satanically possessed projectile vomiting children…

EDITED FOR GETTING THE ENGLISH ALL PROPER-LIKE:
It comes down to ‘The Postman’ and ‘Waterworld’, but don’t ask me to choose. It’s like choosing between two children – two Satanically possessed projectile vomiting children…

“No Way Out” is my favorite Costner film and the runner up is “Field of Dreams” just for its outlandish plot (and the cool VW bus he tooled around in as I had one just like it). “Waterworld” has deservedly sunk to the bottom of the list.
These movie star vanity projects are typically horrible but will sell to dedicated fans in moderate quantities. I sense another “Country John Corbett” musical career path ahead of Mr. Costner.

The Bodyguard.
The scene where Frank Farmer fakes his way past security at the beginning is brilliant.

BULL DURHAM of course!! I’m from Durham, NC… grew up going to the Bulls games… playing ball myself, including 4 yrs with Durham High School, just a couple of blocks away from the old ball park where Mr. Costner filmed… watching Bull Durham helped fuel dreams of playing in the “Bigs” (or at least in the Minors!). Thank you Mr Costner for taking our favorite local team worldwide!! Can’t wait for the sequel!!

Has to be the Bodyguard — but then again, I am not sure how many other films of his I have seen….

These would be my top 5 Costner movies:
Y’all can check out his profile on IMDB for a list of movies he’s been in.

I’m gonna go with Untouchables also. Which makes me wonder, has Sean Connery put out an album?

Field of Dreams is my favorite, but Open Range is a close second. I’m glad to see Kevin’s doing music again. I actually have the Roving Boy cd from years ago.

My favorite was Postman. And I”ve already caught some of their tunes, and I think this is going to be a big seller real soon!

Dances With Wolves – read the book first… was so pleased it was made into a movie. Kevin Costner made the book come to life.

I met Kevin Costner at pebble beach, he’s one of my favorite actors.
One of my favorite movies of his, would be “For Love of the Game” since I really love baseball, and I’m a really big romanticist, which is why I also love “The Bodyguard.”

I can’t believe that noone has mentioned A Perfect World! What a great movie!!! I also loved Mr. Brooks, Message in a Bottle, the Postman, Tincup, Field of Dreams, and Bill Durham. However, Dances… is my favorite….cuz I love the Costner butt!

I know the contest is over, but For Love Of The Game is my all time favorite!! I’ve seen Kevin & Modern West four times this past week in concert. Des Moines, OKC, Austin & Dallas, they were great, very fun and played some great music. This is anything but an actor’s vanity project. Kevin is serious about his music and is doing a great job at it. John Coinman, one of his guitar players and main song writers is incredibly sweet and nice. I got to meet the entire band this week and they are wonderful.
