Free DVD: Randy Travis – Christmas on the Pecos
Later tonight some of country music’s biggest names will be bringing home CMA bling. But what about you? Shouldn’t they share the love with you, the die-hard fans who buy records, go to shows, and make your favorite artist’s career possible? Hey, the least they could do would be send over a little something from the swag bag, right?
Well, you might not want to hold your breath for that package from Brad or Carrie, but at The 9513 we know who the real winners are. So, in the spirit of giving we have a chance for you to pick up one of five copies of a special Christmas DVD from Randy Travis, a man who, thanks to his latest album Around the Bend also should be in the running for some kind of prize tonight.
Entering the Giveaway
We have five copies of Christmas on the Pecos to give away, and entering is easy: All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling us who should be nominated for tonight’s CMA Awards, but isn’t.
You must use a valid email address when you enter, so that we can contact you for shipping information if you win. The9513.com will never share your private information without your explicit consent.
Eligible comments must be posted by 11:59 pm on Sunday, November 16th. Winners will be chosen randomly and announced after the contest has ended.

I agree Trisha Yearwood was criminally left off the ballots.

Ashton Shepherd for New Artist.
Considering some of the other names for New Artist, Jamey Johnson deserves a spot.
Kathy Mattea for Album.
Can anyone believe that Gary Allan has only been nominated for one CMA Award? And that was a Horizon Award in 2003.

i would have to say gary allan as well….the guy puts out the most interesting stuff on music row on a consistent basis….one of the view that still really works to make an “album” a cohesive project from start to finish.

Ashton Shepherd, Jamey Johnson and Sarah Buxton should all be in Best New Artist. That category needed its criteria changed, not its name.

OMG, I love Randy Travis music. How about a Classics category at the CMA’s? Artists that have been around for 20 years or more and still issue new albums. Randy’s “Around the Bend” is an awesome CD, and the new Patty Loveless CD is so refreshing.

@Chris N.: Amen.
Trisha Yearwood’s absence from Female Vocalist is atrocious.

I think “In Color” from Jamey Johnson shoud’ve been been nominated for single and song of the year. Also, I think that Ashton Shepherd, Luke Bryan, and Chuck Wicks should’ve replaced Jason Aldean, Rodeny Atkins, and Kellie Pickler in the “New” Artist category.

Chris and I may not see eye to eye on political matters, but I couldn’t have said this better myself. Ashton and Jamey had active single and album releases during the qualification period (I think?), so should have been absolutely included. Sarah’s last single (prior to the new “Space”) was “That Kind of Day” back in early 2007, so she’s been on the shelf awhile but still fully deserving of a nomination. These are three of my absolute favorite singer-songwriters currently active on major Nashville labels and I’m thrilled to see them gain airplay and recognition in a mostly pop-schlock medium these days.

There are so many good artists that get over-looked for awards. Gary Allan, Phil Vassar, and Blake Shelton are a few examples.
PS – Randy Travis is one of my all-time favorites.
