--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

:D I posted this on Carrie Underwood's fan club after an amazing experience at the Detroit concert 10/04

It looks long but very worth your time to read about Carrie's act of kindness

So I was last in the M&G line in Detroit on 10/04, and Matt comes down with a little extra someone, a little girl and her Aunt. The girl was 4 and she was so excited, so I let her go ahead of me. She was so cute jumping around asking Matt where Carrie was, (she was around the corner) and I bent down and asked her "are you excited to meet Carrie"? In the cutest little voice she said "yes are you"?
I had notice that she had nothing for Carrie sign as they came down at the last minute, I asked her "do you have something for Carrie to sign"? the Aunt said "no just the tickets".
So knelt down again asked the girl her name and she told me. I had brought my CR cd cover, so I said "Haley would you like this page out of my cd book"? Her eyes were so big when she said "yes please". "This is only a small picture of Carrie and her dog, his name is Ace but at least you'll have a picture, (the pic of Carrie and Ace next to TMBIM lyrics) and then you can talk to her about her dog" I said. She then proceeded to talk cutely about what she thought Ace would be like, then started playing hop scotch on the floor asking Matt to play with.
Her Aunt was very appreciative while slightly tearing up. She told me that Haley was supposed to meet Carrie at MSU this past April but it didn't work out with the Make A Wish Foundation, as Haley has leukimia. My heart sank for that little girl in the cowboy hat and cute blonde curls hanging out. So we had talked a little about it and she said that, that was what Haley asked for from The MAWF, all she wanted was to go to a Carrie concert and meet her. So it worked out this time.
Now was Haley's turn, it was just them and me left. She ran super fast to Carrie, who of course had the biggest smile bent down to give her a very long tender hug. I was almost crying and Carrie didn't even know about the cancer. So she talked to her and signed her tickets and Haley gave her the pic, while the Aunt was telling her about The MAWF. Carrie had no negative or sad reaction she went on with Haley like she wasn't there because of the inevidable. It was very thoughtful of her to treat her that way. Then as they are almost done Haley see's a Little Mermaid bag on the table and asks what's inside, Carrie looks in and says some letters, asking her if she like the LM cause Carrie does and she said yes. When Carrie opened the bag it started to play from the movie the music to Under The Sea, Carrie started to dance and act silly, Haley was laughing and dancing, then Carrie sang the whole song to her while they danced. Now I was tearing up. The song was done Carrie knelt down asked for one last hug, and said " so you know the words to AAG"? She said she didn't. Carrie told her "if I ask you to come on stage with me will you dance with me again and maybe you could say the words AAG when I tell you"? She of course said "yes". Matt gave them the instructions cause he usually picks the child to go up. Then they were leaving Carrie told her "I will see you on stage", Haley adorablely said "see you on stage".
I went up and the first thing I said was "that is one amazing kid", Carrie said "that's for sure". Talking and meeting Carrie was amazing in its self but to witness that act of kindness was just awesome.
I forgot Haley showed her the necklace her mother gave her, and Carrie told her she loved it. So when Haley got onstage Carrie mentioned the necklace right away. I am going to put it up on youtube, you should watch now that you know the story behind it, it makes it so much better, I cried while recording.

Carrie is an ANGEL for Hayley

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCD58C8MAGg
There is an up close video of Hay's and Carrie and if you just watch Carrie's face she is just so happy for Hay's this one made me cry. AGAIN
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExUNtrGQ_Oo :D

It gets better Hayley's mother got in touch with me, also they are talking about it on the local radio station and put it on the blog website.

Hayley's mother has given me permisson to link you to Hayley's youtube videos
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rJbcLHwRbM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGHAcP70pOc

she is so cute and amazing I hope to talk with her soon

thank you Carrie for bringing us together!!!

Well guys I talked to Hayley's (Hay's) mom for over an hour and she is just as amazing as her daughter, she was very thankful for the story and the video. She got a phone call this morning telling her it was on the internet she rushed home to see it. She commented on youtube and a private message to me. She then went and joined the fan club immediately.
She express her appreciation of all of you. Hay's has not stop talking about the concert, her mom showed her the video, she loved. I told her to listen to the radio cause they are still talking about it. She told me Hay's unfortunate story, as horrible we think it is for them, they are so positive and happy. I could hear Hay's talking in the back. I told her the story from beginning to end obviously alot more happened at the meet and greet, I packed all the major stuff in so it wouldn't be a novel. We bacame fast friends and are definitley going to keep in touch. I will keep you guys posted. Keep up the great comments the mother loves reading them.

Thanks to all of you from me, you've played a major part in making this story so much better.

Just to let everyone know little Hay's is in remission right now after lots of medical treatments that will continue for the next three years in which she has to be closely monitored, after a long four months where she couldn't leave the house except to go to the hospital where the stays would sometimes be lengthly. Her mother is now teaching Hay's about giving back they went to a blood drive and smart little Hay's having to grow up so fast had a million questions about where her blood came from and how it all works. Hay's is still talking about the concert and meeting Carrie.

Thanks again to everyone this is defintely a great club to be a part of. You all should be proud!!!!! :D

I don't mean to trivialize this little girl's situation, but this is the first Carrie concert clip that I've seen in some time and I need to comment on it.

I'm someone who believes that CMA/ACM Entertainer of the Year awards ought to encompass not only overall star power but also give great weight to the quality of live performances. It's becoming increasingly difficult to do this, as there are few true entertainers left: the modern definition of entertainment seems to be asking "how y'all doing tonight?" and replacing a geographic reference in a lyric with the name of city X.

Even by that low standard, I'm not the least bit upset with Carrie's lack of inclusion in these categories. Is it any wonder than the material on Carnival Ride was so miserable? When a performer misses half of the lyrics of a song to give shout-outs to the crowd and spends the other half slapping hands and accepting flowers, does it even matter what she's singing? This is the performance of someone who has no idea how to entertain a crowd and thus settles for cheap applause lines and distracting physical contact with fans. There's hardly even any effort being expended here. I'd prefer Taylor Swift's Britney Spears-ripoff dancing in the waterfall thing, which was at least an attempt to entertain somebody, even if it was tragically misinformed.

I realize (well, I hope) that this clip isn't representative of the entire show. It is consistent with the only time that I've seen Carrie, shortly after the release of Some Hearts, though I expect that her show has evolved significantly since that time. But really, how does someone like this sell $50 concert tickets?

I'm sorry Matt butt you are using little Hayley's situation to voice your opinion on Carrie's stage presence which you only know of from a clip, so you do not have much to go on. This post was simply a way for me to put out there the unbelievable act of kindness that I had witnessed that night and nothing more.

So if you wish to bash on Carrie please do so on your own negative post. But you may want to do some youtube research befor you make another comment like that one. There is a reason why the critic's voted her in the top 5 concerts to see in 08' out of all genre's. Let's not forget she has been thrown onto a stage with no experience and expected to perform just as amazing as her voice is. She is a shy person and it takes time to grow and she is the first to admit it. So please don't blog here again unless you have something nice to say about the original post.

Are these the same critics who called Carnival Ride "organic" and "rootsy?"

I don't understand what is so extraordinary or unbelievable, as you put it, about this gesture. It's the type of thing celebrites routinely do for sick children. Was it a nice thing for her to do? Yes, of course it was. But why are you going on and on as if it has never been done before?

If you read the whole thing you would know that she didn't even know the reason why the girl was there until later being told by the aunt, and it was just nice to see the maturity and poise she showed not pity, cause when the aunt told me i think my jaw dropped and wanted to cry for that little one, but carrie didn't she just made her so happy and it was nice to see, its one thing when the celeb knows they are coming but when they don't and you see them get the news right in front of you and the girl and you see the reaction, just saying it was nice

You said the aunt told her about the cancer while Carrie was signing the autograph for the little girl and then Carrie invited her to join her on stage. That sort of thing happens all the time.

I have gone to see Carrie in concert as well as at the Opry. She connects with the audience very well. She knows what they want and readily gives. She sings perfectly all her songs all the way through (something rare from other concerts I've been to) Only in "All American Girl" and "The More Boys I meet" does she pause some. When she does the acoustic version of "Don't forget to remember me" with just her bassist and guitar players on acoustic guitars, she talks about her life and about her family. She's wholesome and giving through and through. She jokes with the audience. People know what to expect with her...good singing. The same that they expect from Martina and Trish. Does she ride inside a plastic bubble? No, but she has a long stage and gives her all. She belts "Paradise City" with the best of them and really gets the crowd going. Her opening "Flat on the Floor" gets them on their feet early. Yes, she's the whole package...great singer, beautiful, kind and giving. No she doesn't do crazy stunts but that's not her. If you are going to a concert to see stunts then go somewhere else. But if you are going to hear a wonderful singer..see Carrie.

Sometimes if you edit within the quote those kinds of things happen.
