I was going to scare y'all all to death and put my pic in an avatar but I don't have a jpeg program that can reduce any of my pics down that small. Any easy ones out there for the not so sharp marble in the bag? Technologically advanced I'm not but I thought there might be a freebie download for dummies out there somewhere.

Just so you don't have to download and install anything, try this out: http://www.shrinkpictures.com/create-avatar/

There are a ton more of online image editors if that doesn't work for you.

Thanks Brady. Downloaded an avi but it looks like avatars don't show on a post. A sig does though. Hmmmmm, this could get dangerous! Heh!

Never mind! I found it. My screen just goes out of frames for some reason. Probably 'cause I have the font so large I can actually see it! ;-)

That's a Lanier Special! One of Brody's minnows! Heh! Here are a couple more. My oldest with two 10# Brody Minnows:

Image

He-he! I shoulda' called them Green Trout so Brody could keep up. Ha! What do y'all fish for that makes our fish so small anyhoo? Pike? Muskie? Sails? Marlin?

I think the sig is too much. I'm thinking of downsizing that or just not having a signature. Just seems big.

Actually, none of your images besides your avatar are showing up.

Brody was just kiddin' about the minnows. We're lame amateurs and get excited when we catch a 2 pounder. If we had a boat, we'd probably never get around to updating the site.

I went fishing for salmon a couple of weeks ago up in Washington, but all I caught was a dogfish and somehow lost my bait and snagged a sole.

Oh growl! I don't have a place where I'm hosting photos right now so I took them from a certain fan club site and I guess I got busted linking to them. It would be nice if we had a small photo hosting file on our profile page here or upload capability from our computers but that's probably more hassle than it's worth. I'll look around and see if I can find where some old pics are stashed on the net.

Guess I could just open a photobucket account but that's such a hassle too. Or go take a nap. Hmmmmmm! ;-)

Update: I surrender! Fotopages won't let me link up either and I don't have time to open a photobucket account right now so no pics! I do wonder why the avatar is working though since all of those pics are hosted at the same place.

Brady,

On opening day weekend in April, we went fishing where we normally do (Jamison Lake in Eastern Washington) however due to an algae bloom, the fish were few and far between and a 17 inch trout won our fishing derby (there even is a trophy if you win: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sanbon/2492178807/ The pic is of a family friend). Then we went to a place called Rufus Woods which is a locked portion of the Columbia River and within an Indian reservation. There you can catch big 6-10 pound trout that are so pink they taste as if they are a trout/salmon hybrid (http://www.flickr.com/photos/sanbon/2493005444/).

Matt, that's pretty sweet. I've mainly been around the Northwest part of Washington and haven't ventured anywhere else. I just did some moochin' in the sound near Olalla. Then again, I've never had much luck when it comes to fishing.

I interviewed for a tug skipper's position on the Columbia way back when. Pretty part of the country. Got to do a little fishin' and really enjoyed it. Totally different than chasing freshwater fish in the impoundments in the South or sticking a big Marlin down off Venezuela. In the end it just doesn't matter to me what I'm fishing for. From bream to sails to grouper to redfish to snook to crappie to striper to trout to dolphin to wahoo to snapper to hybrids to shellcracker. It just doesn't matter as long as I'm fishin'!

The most fun I've had in a decade was this Spring when our shellcracker and bream went on the beds. I took all four of my granddaughters out after them and we had a blast! I mean I was steppin' and fetchin' baiting hooks and taking fish off. Whew! The two older ones could hook a cricket with the best of them but the little ones haven't figured it out yet. Man was I laughing my keester off. They were just sooooo serious about catching an Igloo full of panfish. He-he! Even when it came time for cleaning (for hours) they stepped right up and did their share.

When it came eating time you had to keep your hands and fingers out of the way for safety's sake! Ha!

Fishing isn't life. It's more important than that! :P

Thanks for the link Brady. Sorry, I meant Matt B. (senility attack). Not only did I enjoy the pics but I went ahead and opened a flickr account. Let's see if we can hook up from there. I'm going to try two different links and see if one takes. Let me know if you can see them in your browser.

If not then you can just go to the site. I threw up a few pics.

Yeah, I've never caught anything half that size. We just hit up the local rivers or lakes with nothing like that. I'm gonna have to take a trip to Georgia to learn your secrets.

Yeah well, there were no secrets today! I blew chunks. Barely even made expenses. I left my brain in the truck at the boat ramp I guess. Just couldn't get on a roll. *sigh* Oh well, these are days like today!

The lightning strike 50 yards from my boat was interesting. Geez!

I'm wondering why you chose 90 pixels as the maximum avatar size. Any chance of increasing it to 120 ? My chicken is sad enough anyway but here he is somwhat truncated too.

I think 90px was the default size when we installed the forum package. There's still several things we're planning on implementing to further customize the forums and increasing the avatar size is definitely something we've discussed. Thanks for the feedback, and if there's anything else that you, or anyone else, would like to see implemented, please let us know.

Speaking of sizing, I'll put in a request for limiting the size of or eliminating images in sigs. It's not bad now, but I've seen forums where it got out of hand in a hurry.

Dolly's are also too big.

But seriously, elsewhere on this forum, somebody mentioned that here ....

http://www.shrinkpictures.com/create-avatar/

.... is a good place to convert your picture into an avatar.
