Newbie from Ireland here, just wanna say hey. Long time country music fan, have seen most the greats (well, modern greats) incl Garth (twice), Dolly, Tim & Faith (in Nashville), Martina McBride, Kim Richey anda few more (we're kinda limited with who we get to see here in Irl!!!).
Generally i listen to most country but lately have been heading more towards bluegrass (Rhonda Vincent, The Grascals) and also the likes of Shooter Jennings and Jamey Johnson....and even Kid Rock (and just d/loaded the few albums from the 2010 top ten on this blog that I didn't already have - Joe Diffey, The Steeldrivers and Dale Watson). Only recently came across Chris Young and love his voice. In contrast though, I really like Sugarland (not so much the latest offering), Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum. Oh and despite these, my pet peeve is this country/pop thing going on right now (even though I own two Taylor Swift albums). I also spent some time in Oz so am a kasey Chambers, Felicity Urquhart and Mcclymonts fan (and a big missy higgins fan, although thats off topic here i guess )
So yeah, Im a bit of a caontradiction in general but ........ thats me!I know very few friends who are interested in country/bluegrass/americana so I look forward to getting to know a few of you. Just wanted to say hey!

Cheers Indulged, to be honest I'm not sure its a good thing!! You'd want to see my iPod, God knows what people think. I think the diversity comes from the lack of choice here (that my seem like an oxymoron but if you notice, it may seem diverse but its not really, they're all 'big names' or 'chart names') - country radio wise theres nothing (bar a channel that plays Garth and Dixie Chicks and mybe one in a while goes crazy and plays a bit of johnny Cash - not that there's anything wrong with them but.....come on is there anyone alive that doesn't know that stuff??) so its hard to come across new bands which is what I really love. I have to rely on awards shows etc to come across new people......which generally means the likes of the aformentioned country/pop! I need to do more online stuff I guess but, ya know....life gets in the way and you get stuck in a rut. Really feeling the new groove I'm in though with Shooter Jennings and Kid Rock.....great driving music! anyway, Im rambling (I tend to do that....a lot). Thanks for the welcomes!
