I have a terrible confession to make...

All things country!

Thanks,

Well, I just popped the Swift CD in the player. That's 3.52 minutes of my life I'm never getting back. That's how long it took to play Tim McGraw.

I love "Tim McGraw" - its the only truely worthwhile single she's released IMO

...

and its okay to the ppl who like Taylor Swift -- I love Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood :D

Agreed. Really I have loved all of her singles. But "Tim McGraw" is the best.

Taylor Swift was actually in my city this past weekend with RS, and I heard TS was acting too mature, like as in, and I quote, "showing her legs onstage." (from a local radio station this morning discussing the show)

I do wonder how they're going to do the gig, and how the audience will be. With her not being famous over here, it's hard to imagine it being full of screaming girls (the venue has a 14+ age limit too, thankfully!). Having said that, the only other two people on the LastFM event have Jonas Brothers in their Recently Listened Tracks.

I'm kind of only going because I'm curious, and it's not very expensive (£10, about $20). I'll let you all know tomorrow night!

Well... I actually really enjoyed it!

The support act was Jamie Scott and the Town, a pretentious British indie act who I had the misfortune to see supporting Kelly Clarkson too...

Anyway, Taylor.

She only did about an hour's set, but was surprised at how good it was. The singing was good enough for the material, certainly far better than I've heard in her TV appearances. She really knows how to work a stage though. She has great presence, and a really strong rapport with the crowd. She had her usual band with her, six members, which includes Caitlin Evanson, who was on ABC's reality show The One!
She did most of the hits (no Tim McGraw, which was odd), and some stuff off the new album, including Change, which I loved, and Love Story, which she said will be the first single in the UK. Indeed, the implication is that the second album will be released here too.

The crowd was a real mixture. A good amount of American girls, and some guys too, who unexpectedly knew all the words! There were also a good amount of British girls with parents, who loved Taylor and screamed all the way through (the girls, not the parents!), a surprising amount of gay guys, and then a fair number of older adults, presumably country fans. She basically did country mixes of most of the stuff, except Teardrops on My Guitar, and also some of the new material was a bit more rocky, though that may just be the live arrangement.

So, overall, thoroughly enjoyable night... And I will be getting the new CD!

Well, I figured that this gig must be tied in with the new CD release, especially as her first CD wasn't released in the UK so the natives (as distinct from Americans visiting or living in London) wouldn't know the songs.

Find me on MySpace http://www.myspace.com/peterdurwardharris. Lots of country singers are among my friends.
