I'm really surprised that my musical compatibility with nearly everyone in the group is either low or very low -- even when we seem to have a lot of the same artists in our libraries.

I just wiped out all my plays in iTunes, so I guess this isn't valid, but currently, we have a high compatibility.

I know for mine it's because I have a lot of non country artists. I have high compatibility with one person in the group, I forget who it was though...

The last time I checked, you hadn't played enough music for it to calculate the compatibility, but now that you've played more, it is high.

I think many of us listen to so much music, from so many different artists and genres (and even just within "country" itself, which does encompasses a lot of sub-styles), that even what looks like a substantial list of shared artists represents only a drop in the bucket for each person's library. I know I have nearly 800 artists in my iTunes library, although that does include duets.

I must say, some of you have much cooler musical taste than me, and have dug much further into non-mainstream, indie, and less-accessible types of music than I have previously been able to; I am looking forward to using this group to discover some new music.

Also, I want to apologize ahead of time if any showtunes or Disney soundtracks pop up; those will probably be from me! Also, I've been downloading songs on recommendation from my students, so...

Wow. I thought I had a huge library but I only have 124 artists. But I have a lot of songs by the artists that I do like. How many songs are in your library?

I have 1756 songs, 199 artists, and 212 albums. (1234 songs are country)

How do you get last fm to automatically scrobble? Mine won't; I have to manually go to the diagnostics screen...

Over 7000 songs from 16 genres. My disposable income goes straight into CDs, DVDs, and iTunes gift cards. ( I just bought "That Lonesome Song" today. Whoo!) I prefer to buy physical CDs from my favorite artists and download other stuff on a song by song basis. I'll never buy a Britney Spears CD, for example, but I'll download "Toxic."

But I admit to having a lot of crap. I have most of the music (though not all) from my top five or so favorite artists. But I also have nearly every CD I ever bought/was given as a gift/borrowed from my sister on my computer.

I'm an anal retentive completist - I ripped every CD I could find in the house to my computer, found the correct album information and artwork for it (including scanning the really obscure stuff - like my second cousin's self-released folk album), and bought an external hard drive to hold it all. I obsessively burn all my downloaded music to CD as well (I learned the hard way about backing up computer files), and print out a "CD cover" with a photo montage of the albums and a track listing.

There's a lot of stuff on my computer I rarely listen to. for example, I got Billy Gilman's debut CD for my 14th birthday. Do I still listen to it? No. Is it on my computer? Yes.

Last year I went on a three month mission to listen to each song I owned at least once. So that all got scrobbled.

Yup, I just wish there existed a nice clear MP3 of that song that I could put on my ipod. I love the way they mimic the synthypop sound of the song on their instruments.

Yael Naim has the worst cover of "Toxic", she turns it into some creepy piano ballad

I'm over 10,000 plays already after only one week.
