Off-topic and miscellaneous discussion not pertaining to country music.

I'm curious if anyone who reads the 9513 uses Last FM. It's sort of a music-based social networking thing, but my favorite part of it is how it tracks all the music you listen to in iTunes (or your iPod, or several other music programs) and compiles it into lists. It's neat to see your listening habits, all nicely charted out for you.

If you've never heard of it, you may want to check it out: http://www.last.fm. My profile there is Carpetbagger513.

I just signed up. Pretty cool, I had no idea I'd listened to my top artists like 800-something times, or 27,000+ songs listened to in total. Thanks for mentioning this.

Seems like we've got a decent number of folks there. Would there be any interest in setting up a 9513 group on LastFM? If nothing else, I think it would be one of the few groups that wouldn't have Radiohead or Muse as the #1 artist on the group charts. :)

Go for it, certainly! But I think you need 15 members for it to generate charts, so we'll need a few more recruits yet!

I've been on Last.Fm for about two years now. I'm LittleSable there as well.

It's been a busy weekend, but I've got the group started. Brady, Brody, please feel free to PM me here or on LastFM if you see anything that you would like added or corrected. So everyone, please feel free to join up! After getting 10 people, group charts will be generated.

I just signed up as:

Sugarland36

I guess my weird tastes in music may mess up our group radio, the first song it played was Kelly Clarkson's "Hear Me". xD

My itunes had all my listens from the past 8 months deleted, so all the older songs I like have no listens at all.

Weird, most of my iTunes plays were deleted not too long ago as well.

Ah, cool, they made the threshold 10 for the generation of charts. Come on everyone, if everyone who posted in this thread signs up to the group we'll have 10!

No worries, last night I ended up listening to a band called Die! Die! Die!, which was a freebie from the SXSW web site. Not bad, but straying pretty far afield of country music to be sure. Ah well, it just makes for a more interesting listening experience.

I just need to go home and listen to something quick to change that "last listened to" to something other than Bette Midler.

But seriously y'all, its from the Beaches soundtrack. Oh crap, I just made it worse, didn't I?

By the way, how does everyone else's compatibility stack up against the other members? Only two members rank above low compatibility for me, and one of those is Brady.

I put my Windows Media Player on Recently Added and just let it play. Before that you will notice the new, and very nice, Duhks album.

I will say, from the Beaches soundtrack, download--in this order--:
I Think Its Going To Rain Today
The Glory of Love
Baby Mine

Otto Titsling--if you find it funny.

Those are the standards and, especially her equal parts sad and triumphant Glory of Love, the best. The poppier stuff did not age well and Oh Industy should just never have been included on the Soundtrack (it functions in the movie as the theme song to a really bad play she is doing).

I suspect my compatibility will be pretty low with most of you guys! I'm pretty weird in my tastes within country music, and even weirder outside!

ETA: yep, the only people I have anything higher than Low with are LittleSable and Matt B!
