Waylon must have loved MacArthur Park, since he recorded it twice - 1969 and 1976.

My list would pretty much be the same as Peter's except I'd have to work "Only Daddy That'll Walk The Line" and "Lucille" in there somewhere.

It'd be interesting to see what everyone's top tens would look like if the standards ("Mommas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys," "Luchenback, Texas," "Honky Tonk Heroes," etc.) were excluded.

Oops, so it is. I made my list without listening to any of the songs ... Bad memory I guess.

I'll replace it with 'Mental Revenge' then.

Ok, I can't disagree with any of these lists But I'm surprised that nobody named "Wurlitzer Prize" or "Drinkin' and Dreamin'"

Apparently Waylon got talked into recording "Wurlitzer Prize", hated the song and was aghast that it was issued as a single, forcing him to keep performing it in concert.

Wow, that's interesting, I had never heard that. It's always been one of my favorites. Not necessarily one of his best but one that I always felt conveyed a strong emotion and feeling.
