Only one country artist, George Strait, appears on the list:

Glad there is atleast one on there. If anyone deserves it, its George. I am a bit surprised that Merle or Alan was not on the list.

How do you feel about George Strait Razor X?

Remember this is the Top 200 albums chart, not the Top Country Albums chart. I wouldn't have expected Merle to have hit the Top 10 on the Top 200 chart very often.

I like George Strait. He's one of the few people still getting radio airplay that is actually worth listening to.

This list needs to be taken with a huge salt tablet. Prior to the introduction of SoundScan, Billboard took phone reports from various record stores. Often the people (usually kids) giving the reports never paid much attention to country album sales. The week SoundScan was introduced (5/25/91) several country albums that had been in release for extended periods of time, such as Garth Brooks NO FENCES (released in September 1990) took huge upward leaps in the chart rankings

It is highly probable that had SoundScan been in use before then that Charley Pride, Waylon Jennings and Alabama would have had at least ten albums hit the Top Ten of the Hot 200 Albums chart (Alabama probably 20+ such albums) , and Haggard would have had a couple as well. They didn't of course due to the subjective nature of the reporting method in use prior to SoundScan

Kenny Rodgers probably had 27 such albums and George Strait should have an additional 10-13 albums added to his tally

That would explain why the first of George Strait's albums to be included was the Pure Country soundtrack. I was quite surprised by that. :?
