What if Reba's joining Carolwood Records?

All things country!

Postby Matt B on October 2nd, 2008, 10:36 pm

I Blogged over at Roughstock about this very topic, along with me noticing that Phil Stacey's gone from Lyric Street's industry site. It'd make sense if he's targeted to Christian markets if he is indeed joining the new label. But what if Reba's not joining Big Machine but Disney and Carolwood?

That's interesting :D

Lyric Street is pretty good... Billy Ray Cyrus is with them now, and I think they have Rascal Flatts too

There aren't any good artists on the current Lyric Street roster.

Sarah Buxton's next single "Space" is being promoted on Country Aircheck as 'coming soon.' No label info or anything else is listed there, just a black banner add. So perhaps she IS their 'established' artist for this new label.

It would be a bit of a stretch, wouldn't it, to call her an established artist?

I like Billy Ray, too. I think he's always been a bit underrated, just because of the sheer ridiculousness of "Achey Breaky Heart." His music isn't going to light your world on fire, but he's been consistently solid.

I've always thought he was the epitome of mediocraty. The only song of his that I ever liked was "Busy Man".

Right. He's also quite a good live performer. It's perfectly OK to dislike someone but to never give someone a 'shot' after hating one song? Worse yet is to dislike someone because of their child's current stardom. And, Razor, before you reply to this, I am aiming this generally at people. Because, obviously, you've listened to more than the one song based on your message above.

I like Cyrus' voice. "Could've Been Me" was a pretty edgy song for the time it was released, and I've also loved his rasp on "Storm In The Heartland"

Right -- for example, his recent single "Somebody Said a Prayer" is phenomenally good

And if we went by the logic of not giving someone a chance based on a single, that would be like someone hating Sugarland for being introduced to them through "All I Want to Do" XD lol

There is probably somebody out there that won't ever like Sugarland from that song.

I'd say several thousands of people; the performance on The View resulted in some bizarre facial expressions from most of the audience (who, in general, were probably unexpecting victims)

I'm not sure that anyone hates him because of Miley's stardom. But I do think it's a bit pathetic how he's tried to ride her coattails to revive his own career.

Is SHeDAISY still on their roster? Their latest album was great, and I love their past music too.
