Her 2nd album is set to release next week, on Tue September 30 -- with an optional 30-min DVD called "A Day in the Life"

Here's the track listing:
1. "Don't You Know You're Beautiful" (Chris Lindsey, Aimee Mayo, Karyn Rochelle)
2. "I'm Your Woman" (Josh Kear, Rochelle, Troy Verges)
3. "Rocks Instead of Rice" (Kellie Pickler, Kear, Chris Tompkins)
4. "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You" (Lindsey, Mayo, Verges)*
5. "Lucky Girl" (Catherine Britt, Brett Beavers, Tony Martin)
6. "One Last Time" (Pickler, Kyle Jacobs, Lindsey, Mayo)
7. "Best Days of Your Life" (Pickler, Taylor Swift)
8. "Somebody to Love Me" (Pickler, Lindsey, Mayo)
9. "Makin' Me Fall in Love Again" (Rochelle)
10. "Going Out in Style" (Pickler, Jacobs)
* re-recorded version (originally from Small Town Girl)
Obviously, "Don't You Know You're Beautiful" was its lead-off and current single

"Best Days of Your Life" -- written by Pickler & Swift -- will be the second single
-----

Pickler's MySpace has full-length audio of "Rocks Instead of Rice" and "Somebody to Love Me" as well as the first two singles for the album for listeners

And all of them are killer songs -- "BDoYL" and "Somebody to Love Me" are already instant-favorites

"Rocks Instead Of Rice" sounds to me like a rip-off of an old Dolly Parton song:

I DON'T WANT TO THROW RICE

She married the one I love today
When my back was turned she took him away
Now while they're all outside, waiting to throw rice
What I want to throw will surely black her eyes
'Cause I don't want to throw rice
I want to throw rocks at her
She took the only love I had
No, I don't want to throw rice
I want to throw rocks at her
It would be a way to hurt her 'cause she hurt me so bad

Well I never stole nothin' in my life
But if I get the chance I'll steal him from his wife
'Cause all is fair in love and war,
maybe I'm carryin' this too far
But I feel like tying dynamite to her side of the car

No I don't want to throw rice
I want to throw rocks at her
She took the only love I had
No, I don't want to throw rice
I want to throw rocks at her
It would be a way to hurt her 'cause she hurt me so bad

I don't think it sounds like it, the lyrics are quite different (with the exception of the throwing of rocks not rice)

But, big deal

Same theme. And not nearly as good a song. It also "borrows" heavily from the theme of Lee Ann Womack's "I'll Think Of A Reason Later." Pickler sounds like Alvin and the Chipmunks on this particular track.

Dolly has a high-pitched voice too

Same theme? Geez... what about the 50 songs about getting drunk in bars or the 100 songs about makin' love, etc. etc.

At least this theme is somewhat unique...and this song is good IMHO <3 she has great vocals

It's not unique; that's my point. It's been done before and done better.

Really? Does this thread need to de-generate into a running critique of every potential flaw of the song or album?

It's a fun song. No one is claiming it to be an original thought or concept. Not every song has to be a ground breaking exhibition of vocal, lyrical and instrumental perfection nor does every song need to be criticised because it's thematically similar to something that has been recorded in the past and doesn't live up to the original.

Sounds like valid grounds for criticism to me.

Razor is back to his old tricks. This ain't another "My sweet lord".

Elvis Costello once said that Hank Williams wrote the country music songbook. He explained that Hank wrote about every theme that you could have in a country song. Perhaps Elvis was exaggerating slightly, but I could see his point. Every cheating song could be called a rip-off of "Your cheating heart". Every song about being alone could be called a rip-off of "I'm so lonsome I could cry". And so on and so on .... Song themes can't be copyrighted - if they could, the music industry would have died a death decades ago.

Indulged - Dolly's voice when she recorded "I don't want to throw rice" was very different from the voice on "Backwoods Barbie" so there's no comparison with Kellie's voice where this particular case is concerned. I can't find that song on YouTube, but here's another song she did at around the same time.

No comparison with Kellie whatsoever.

I'm listening to it right now and so far the record's not bad. It does float on the charm of Pickler but I fully expected that. "Lucky Girl" sounds like a big ole hit to me (it is in Australia for it's co-writer Catherine Britt).

I really appreciate people that agreed with me and didn't belittle every supposed "flaw" like Razor X does :D
------

I loved "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You" on her debut album, and from the clip it sounds better <3 can't w8 for that either

I had a dream that "Best Days of Your Life" hits #1 on the country charts; I hope it comes true

I still prefer CB's original version but I'm glad they went with the original composition and didn't mess around with it too much.

Indulged, that one has a lot of 80's pop flowing through it's veins. It's a fun song, as are most of the songs on the album. If this record doesn't get her a few Top 10 hits, I'd be very surprised. "Best Days," with the TS connection could get her a #1 hit. If people were expecting a "Sophomore Slump" from Pickler, they aren't gonna get it.

"Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You?" was a good song, I thought it should've been a single from her last CD. But I don't like artists re-using songs on multiple albums, especially when there's only 10 songs on the album to begin with. Whatever happened to 15+ tracks on albuns?

It depends on the artist and the label, etc. -- as long as the songs are really good it doesn't matter if there is 10 or 11... or 15

15 tracks on an album is not the norm. Years ago it was 12 songs on an LP and sometime in the 70s it got cut back to 10. RCA even cut it down to 9 songs in the late 80s and early 90s. After CDs had been out for a few years, they began adding a bonus track to the CD version, supposedly to compensate for the higher price of a CD compared to a cassette or LP.

Lately we've been seeing 11, 12 and sometimes 13 track CDs. I think the ability to add extra tracks depends on what the label has to pay out in songwriting royalties. I remember that being a big issue when Randy Travis released his Heroes & Friends album back in 1991. That was a duets album and had 14 tracks (though the final track was a reprise of the opening one). Warner Brothers was trying to negotiate with the songwriters to pay out a lower rate for royalties, so they could afford to include more tracks without raising the price of the album too much. This is less of an issue when the artist writes the majority of the songs himself/herself. I don't know if this is still the case today but that's how it was in the past.

We are not going to maintain our status as the greatest nation in the world if they have Catherine Britt and we are stuck with Kellie.

Pickler will be debuting the release of her album with an appearance on The Today Show on Sept 30th, and followed by an appearance on Oct 1st at Live with Regis & Kelly

I presume she will perform on them both, as well as talk about the making of her album
