Pub Crawl in Nashville

Reviews, recaps, schedules, ect. for live shows.

So, I just got back from the Pub Crawl in Nashville. Here were my impressions.

Darius Rucker - I must say... I'm convinced. This guy is a welcome breath of fresh air to country music. He's obviously seasoned in performing and has an incredible voice. He did a great job holding the attention of a rowdy country audience. Not to mention, he threw in a cover of "Family Tradition" smack dab in the middle of his set, and did it justice. The only Hootie songs were "Let Her Cry" and "Wanna Be With You" (the closer). Songs like "All I Want" and "Drinkin' and Dialin'" were very well-recieved. "Forever Road", "Learn to Live", and "Alright" all have really cool vibes live. Overall, great performance!

Emily West - One Blue Sky was very good...

Luke Bryan - Standard good performance... new song - "Welcome to the Farm" - unimpressive

Trace Adkins - Had a choir in on "Muddy Water" - very cool, great job. New songs were pretty bland - "Hillbilly Rich" and "She's Sweet" (?) - more of the stuff I don't like from Trace... other standards were very good though.

I was there and primarily went to see Emily West. I was very close to her performance, I was near the tent for staff people during Darius' set but left before Trace's as my aversion to traffic was just too great to want to stay, especially w/the AMA Awards at the Ryman not too far away. Darius did well with his set and people seemed to connect him as "Hootie" as soon as he sang "Let Her Cry" (with a country arrangement). I agree that he did well with "Family Tradition." He also said his next single will be "It Won't Be Like This For Long."

FYI, for Emily West, the song is just "Blue Sky", and yes that song is great. ;)

I wanted to go, but as I had already planned to be up there all next week I couldnt justify the add'l three nights hotel and two add'l days of vacation just for one night of good (great?) music. Maybe next year.

I'm jealous of all of you who live in Nashville and those of you who visit often. (My vacation next year might have to be a road trip to Nashville... :D )

You right Rainbow- I guess I should be thankful for that. But with gas prices the way they are- Nashville might as well be in another country for me... ;)
