Reba to host the 2011 ACM Awards

All things country!

According to country weekly, reba is set to host the ACM awards for the 13th time next year, i may not like reba anymore, but i will admit that she is a pretty good host, and much better than trace adkins who was possibly the worst host ive ever seen at the ACA awards.

Saying that you don't like Reba anymore because she went against your wish and released "Turn On The Radio" instead of "Maggie Creek Road" is a little drastic, don't you think?

Its not just that, its how she's been acting lately, she is trying to be 25 again and its ridiculous. But yes, i still cant get over how she can release turn on the radio over maggie creek road.

So you're saying that because she's made one misstep in your eyes, you no longer like her? That's extremely flaky, and is exactly why Reba is doing what she's doing; she's aiming for the flaky young fans who don't follow artists careers beyond the singles they like. She just happened to miss the mark for what YOU like.

What im trying to say is that reba is trying WAY too hard to get younger fans, when she kind of does that naturally, releasing songs like Turn on the radio dont make her seem cool to young people, it makes her seem desperate and even laughable, ive always admired reba for NOT going down madonna's route by acting like she's 20 again but ive had to rethink that. When reba starts singing songs with quality and NOT songs that sound like a radio hits, then call me.

Reba's latest single got to #1 on Billboard where Sugarland, Taylor Swift, and Carrie Underwood (likely, Mama's not lookin' great right now) failed. Plus, it was a good song in my opinion. I don't care how old she really is singing about 'twitter' and 'texting,' because for one thing: she still looks really young (when she performed "Strange" at the ACMs last year is when I started checking for her, and I thought she was maybe close to hitting age 40 based on looks), and she uses twitter a lot regardless of her age, so it shouldn't matter.

Anndddddd she's a fantastic host. So I'm lookin' forward to another ACM awards show with her as host.

Personally, as I said in another post, I think her Twitter reference is lame not because of her age, but because it's something that's a current fad, and namedropping things perceived as 'hot' at the moment seems like little more than a ploy for a younger fanbase.

Dolly Parton gets critisized for the opposite w/ "Shinola" and now Reba's getting flak for keeping it current. Nobody wins.

The people who write songs that are seemingly timeless, or who write about current phenomenons in a more integral way, which wouldn't sound completely outdated and ridiculous twenty years from now, win.

Well to be fair even though taylor and sugarland peaked at #2, they both had higher audiences that reba did at #1 when they were at #2. Reba just got lucky to be honest, and taylor and sugarland still have the bigger hit, mine hit #3 on the billboard hot 100 and stuck like glue went to #17 on the billboard hot 100, whereas turn on the radio went to #53, id say taylor and sugarland still win.

Its not the twitter reference that i really have a problem with, its just like rainbow said, the song just seems like a ploy to get a younger fanbase, and its dissapointing and reba is capable of much better. She was the one who actually got me into to country, and i was about 12 at the time, its dissapointing to see her result to this. Sure its not a terrible song by any means, but reba has got an amazing voice, and this song is not worthy of her talent.

I fell in love with reba's music, because of her ability to convey emotions and stories, I was going through a roughtime, and i was living in barbados at the time, i just found out that my best friend had recently just been shot and killed, and then i saw youre gonna be in a related video on youtube,i clicked it and it just lifted my spirits and made me feel SO MUCH better. You cant even imagine how that song helped me get through that tragic time,So i went and download her #1s album, and reba just became my idol, i loved her story songs and music videos like fancy and the night the lights went out in georgia, especially she thinks his name was john. It showed me that reba wasnt afraid to take risks. Which is another reason why i loved her,

I know this is a country forum, but i really just wanted to explain my situation with reba, one main reason i liked reba was because she was so different unlike the singers i heard on radio, her songs had a true depth, meaning and more importantly you could hear the emotion in reba's voice. This "new" reba, i dont recognize and dont like her one bit, believe me i have tried and tried to get into reba's new album but i just cant, the only track i really liked was When you have a child, now THAT is a song that i can hear emotion in, and it showcases reba's best vocals in a while. The Day She Got divorced is kind of good too. I like alot of reba's sassy songs, but turn on the radio and her new album just make it seem like she's waving a white flag.

Wel,, maybe now you can take a break from Reba and actually discover a few country music singers. Like Kitty Wells.
