Football Game Rumor Causes Minor Frenzy Over Death of Dolly Parton

If Dolly had actually died, I’d probably feel as if my grandma died. Shame on those who started that nasty rumor.

I’m trying to wrap my head around spending $75 for a Taylor Swift CD. Today’s 13 year olds must have a lot more spending money and a lot less common sense than I did at that age.

All Sams are known for their fiscal responsibility (as well as their good taste in music and dashing good looks).

it could be lack of their parents’ common sense, as they are generally the ones shelling out the $$ that 13 yr olds are spending.

I didn’t think 13-year-olds even bought CDs these days. Don’t they download most of their music?

In fact, it would be interesting to know if Taylor has a higher percentage of digital sales compared to most other country artists.

Most of the 13 year olds I know only download their music, and most of it illegal.

Dolly Parton has chosen to debut here new “9 to 5″ musical stage production here in Los Angeles although I really don’t know why. Dolly has recorded special promo radio ads where she’s singing the song “9 to 5″ with the lyrics altered to be the pitch for the stage show. The singing advertisement is airing on a variety of station formats from talk radio to rock oldies.

I think the tweens and teens driving the sales of Taylor Swift, Jonas Brothers, and Miley Cyrus CDs find it easier to beg money off their parents than do the online payment thing for downloads. If they are shopping with Mom at stores that sell music, they know incessant whining/begging can be quite effective….

Off Topic: I got to meet Hollerin’ Ben Cisneros in person yesterday at the 1100 Springs concert at Safari Sams venue in Hollywood. Even though the concert was free there were only about 15 people in the audience, but the guys in 1100 Springs enjoy what they do so much they didn’t seem to mind! Jeff, the club DJ who books the bands for the Sunday afternoon “Americana Brunches”, requested the great Johnny Cash sound alike song “10 to Life”. Vocalist Matt Hillyer said they don’t perform it live very often because it has too many words, which is a shame if true (although I think he was just jesting?). 1100 Springs puts on a great live show and I highly recommend that anyone who gets a chance to see them live should do it!

The celebrity competitors on the upcoming “Dancing with the Stars” season have been announced and the only two male participants are Lance Bass and 18 year old Cody Linley (from Hannah Montana). So the real question is which lucky guy will get Julianne Hough as his dancing partner? By dancing with Cody Miss Julianne will score a direct hit with the Hannah Montana core audience and may watch her album sales skyrocket to Taylor Swift like levels! (Well maybe anyway…) On the other hand Julianne’s current pretty boy-toy Chuck Wicks would much rather see Julianne paired with Lance Bass, who’s dancing skills reportedly improved dramatically after he came out of the closet….(lol)

There are more then two guys on dancing with stars there is also Rocco DiSpirito, Maurice Greene, Warren Sapp, Ted McGinley and Jeffrey Ross.

I’m rooting for Rocco. They longer he is on the show, the longer he can be on Top Chef.
