Family Tradition: The Williams Family Legacy Opens Tomorrow
- Edd Hurt gave a good rundown of Family Tradition: The Williams Family Legacy, the exhibit that opens tomorrow at The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and a brief history of the Williams family.
- Luke Bryan scored a co-sponsorship from Longhorn Steakhouse and Jack Daniels. As part of the deal he’ll make 24 appearances at Longhorn Steakhouses across the country to meet and sign autographs for fans.
- Nashville Scene’s Michael McCall wrote a fairly lengthy article about Justin Townes Earle and his past struggles with drugs, and says that the biggest surprise from The Good Life is how accomplished Earle is at traditional country.
- Justin Townes Earle’s dad Steve Earle played UCLA’s Royce Hall last night with wife Allison Moorer, a show Natalie Nichols calls “so authentically gritty at times he seemed to actually kick up dust while stamping his feet in time with his songs.”

- Julia Hughan at The Nashville Sound was surprised when she stumbled across the news that Reba’s Love Revival compilation was recently certified gold.
Two things sprung to mind after reading that little piece of news…the first being that’s it’s a little disturbing that a token faux holiday record can sell that well. The second being the realization that Reba McEntire, after nearly three decades on the radar of Music City, can still move records as well as any other young talent emerging from the Music Row conveyor belt, but few can tell a story like Reba.

Don’t look now, but Darius Rucker, lead singer of 90s rock group Hootie & The Blowfish, has a country hit on his hands. What you probably haven’t heard is that Rucker is the first black artist to chart a single in the country top 20 since Charley Pride last did it in 1988.
News that former Sugarland member and co-founder Kristen Hall is suing her ex-mates, to the tune of $1.5 million, goes a long way towards providing a bit of context regarding the Atlanta singer/songwriter’s sudden departure from the group.

Opry members are expected to perform several time a year. Hank is not gonna be able to manage that.

As I’ve said before, the drive to reinstate Hank Williams misunderstands the nature of Opry membership. You have to be alive to be an Opry member; Hank could not be reinstated at this point. Hank Williams is the same thing that Porter Wagoner now is: a former Opry member.
