So, I guess Rick will be clicking over to get the Lost highway/Texas comp? Full of liberals and Texans, just the way Rick likes it…

That NewFound Road video is nicely done, and it’s a great song.

So Kelly, how did you know that would be my first priority today? At least the price is right for what country music from liberal Texans is usually worth to me! (lol)
A Halloween song suggestion: Dave Stamey’s “Mountains Of The Heart” for this chorus: “The mountains of the heart they are haunted, filled with granite shadows deep and stark. And the ghosts of things that might have been so lonesome ever wander, forever through the mountains of the heart.” BOO! (lol)
Thanks for the Wayne Hancock link. Exebelle not so much…
Its nice to see Crystal Shawanda will be out touring with Reba. Its too bad Ashton Shepherd can’t be on the tour as well so fans of talented and unique female country vocalists could get a “hat trick”.

Good one, Rick. I walked right into that one, I guess :-)

Even I thought that was a good one, Rick.

I concur with Rick’s sentiments
Actually politically-oriented music usually leaves me cold, whatever its political orientation. The left-wing stuff does tend to whine more, making it a bit more annoying than its right wing counterparts

You fine folks should know better than to ever encourage my snarkiness around here! (lol)
Opry Alert: Tonight’s Opry will feature the always amazing Del McCoury Band, Gloriana, Jimmy Wayne, and Martina McBride (and the “Legends”). Well, one out of four ain’t bad. From quality bluegrass, to modern power pop-rock airhead country, to a Hall & Oates cover act, to a belting pop-country diva they sure ain’t lacking variety tonight. Kind of like a “big tent” political philosophy….
October 27, 2009 at 5:47 pm
The Opry’s had a “big tent” booking philosophy for at least 70 years. Which is one of the reasons why it’s made it this far.

Like we needed even more Kenny Rogers albums in circulation!

nice to see the D/FW area is represented on the LH sampler…not.
October 27, 2009 at 11:27 pm
Well, I actually downloaded those free Texas songs from Amazon and after a listen through proceeded to delete everything except the Lyle Lovett track. If they are trying to raise interest in these artist’s latest albums, then they’ve failed as there must be better tracks they could have featured! Hey, did Kelly D. or that clown from “Mandatory Radio” have a hand in making these selections? Hmm…
Craig Shelburne must feel like he’s lost in the wilderness over at the CMT blog. His musical tastes are so far removed from the average CMT viewer he’s a proverbial fish out of water. Its rare that any of his blog posts get any replies whereas Alison Bonaguro is totally tuned into the CMT viewer / Top 40 country radio mindset. If Craig wrote for The 9513 he would at least garner a little respect over here for his non-mainstream taste in music.
October 27, 2009 at 11:45 pm
I don’t think Craig’s unhappy with his job, and I don’t think his bosses are unhappy with the job he’s doing there. So where’s there a problem? Besides, I think you underestimate CMT’s viewers, Rick; a critical mass of them have always been receptive to stuff that’s been sidestepped by the chart-reporting country stations.
