Wow… that Justin Byrd song was HORRIBLE. I hope he isn’t actually signed. I don’t know who in their right mind would even sign him. That is the worst music I’ve ever heard. I adore Taylor Swift, but if I were Taylor I would be creeped out by that song. He sounds like he is living in a fantasy land.

Jamey Johnson sound from “That Lonesome Song” album is not mainstream. In Color the radio version has different production then the record he released. The album he just cut in Nashville with “My Way to You” on it is not his sound. He sold out again. He went back to letting shiny Nashville control him. Jamey Johnson is now corporate, from his “new” sound all the way to his website. It’s a shame…

Jamey Johnson is very much mainstream – and thats a great thing. He isnt “pop” and he doesnt share the sound of what many people refer to as “contemporary country”, but I see it as a great thing that he can do what he is currently doing and do it inside the slick confines of the mainstream establishment..

Im gonna go ahead and say it ….I agree with Jon. This guy wrote Honky Tonk Badonkaadonk, is on mainstream radio, CMT darling. That is mainstream.
Which is completely different from good/excellent artist vs. lousy artist, which is where I think people are taking this discussion

In what respect is Jamey Johnson not mainstream? Hasn’t he had hits? Hasn’t he won awards? Isn’t he on a major label?

Jamey Johnson isn’t mainstream apparently she doesn’t realize that. I just hope he continues to make music that is off center from it.
