Bout time Lyric street drop Josh Gracin’s ass. He shoulda been out like a fat girl playing dodge ball years ago….I’ve known numerous musicians & other industry peeps that have worked for & with him & his ego is even bigger than his ass. My personal experience on a CHARITY gig with his management this past fall solidified that fact as well.

Rick’s Random Tidbits: Miranda Lambert will be performing in Tyler, TX on May 17 at the fund raising concert for “Cause For The Paws”. Here are the details from “AllAboutCountry”:

“Later this month (5/17) Miranda takes part in her second annual “Cause for the Paws” in Tyler, TX. Last year over $113,000 was raised for the Humane Society of East Texas and she hopes to top that this year.

Boyfriend Blake Shelton, friend Kacey Musgraves, and Adam Hood with join Miranda for an acoustic show, wine tasting and delicious food from local eateries.”

Note: Many of you only know Kacey Musgraves as a competitor on Nashville Star a couple of years ago. Kacey started out singing cowboy and yodel music as a teenager and she and Miranda became friends before Miranda was ever a contestant on the first Nashville Star. Its nice to see Miranda supporting her long time friend’s music career.

Speaking of Lyric Street the That Nashville Sound blog has more details about departures and recent additions. It appears the Disney folks are signing family acts these days including two sisters (Ruby Summer) and a father son act (The Parks). Its too bad Summer wasn’t named Tuesday so their act could be “Ruby Tuesday”, but I digress….

So Kenny Chesney’s Dallas concert yesterday was rained out and when asked about it he gave a deep and thoughtful reply…NOT! He even dug out an obscure song titled “There’s Something Sexy About The Rain” no doubt inspired by the huge numbers of female Chesneyheads on their boyfriend’s shoulders who were experiencing a mass wet t-shirt contest type scenario. If Kenny’s night time pillow talk is anything like his comments about this concert, I can understand why Renee Zellweger ran for the hills…

Just wanted to share that I noticed on the R&R website that “Do You Believe Me Now” debuts on the adult contemporary charts this week.

Now if we can only get about 25 or 35 more artists to do the same, and leave country behind.

i think we go overboard when we critize artists for actively seeking growth or even something to show growth. In today’s climate, any positive growth, whether or not its contrived, is still positive growth which should be applauded. I don’t think its wrong to take a step back and say that to oneself, “I need to show people that I have grown as an artist, and if i can’t do that, then i need to reevaluate”.
