Don WilliamsDon Williams is set to say goodbye to the touring circuit today at the age of 67. He is bidding his final farewell at The Cannon Center in Memphis, TN, ending a career that has stood the test of time. Williams’ songs include great hits such as “I Believe In You,” “Tulsa Time,” and “Good Ole Boys Like Me.” After over 30 years, 45 top tens, and 17 number ones, he still chalks up his success to luck, saying, “I was just incredibly fortunate with how many hits I had. I guess that’s how I look at my whole career — I’ve been a very lucky man.” We know his career has been more than just luck, it’s a combination of character, talent, and a willingness to stick to his guns that has given him the longevity and success he has enjoyed.

“I was always of the opinion that just because somebody else had a lot of success with a certain approach, it didn’t mean I had to try it that way,” says Williams. “I always felt like the music I made and the songs I sang had to be something I really believed in. I was never concerned about some fad that was going on.” For that we salute you, Mr. Williams, and we will miss your music, hopefully it won’t be the last we hear from you.
