Dale Watson Records Album In Former Cash Cabin And Billy Ray Cyrus Joins Dancing With The Stars
- Almost every time I hear that an artist will be releasing a new album this year I get excited. Among the albums I’m anticipating the most is John Anderson’s Easy Money, then of course there’s the Doug Moreland album that I talked about yesterday, and Tim McGraw usually puts out quality stuff. Some of the other well known artists releasing albums this year seem to be escaping me right now, but CMT talks a little bit about Dale Watson’s new album From the Cradle to the Grave due out April 24th. He wrote and recorded the album in a cabin formerly owned by Johnny Cash and now owned by another Johnny – Johnny Knoxville.
“I got up there and basically wrote 10 songs in three days,” Watson says. “At first, I was adamant about not writing anything even remotely reminiscent to Johnny Cash as I figured I’d be instantly dismissed for trying to cop his vibe, but his presence was so strong up there that I decided, ‘Why fight it? Let the chips fall where they may and go with the feeling.’”
- Everyone remember Billy Ray Cyrus? Yeah, the Achy Breaky Heart dude that used to sport a mullet. Poor Billy Ray, he’ll always be remembered for those two things. By the way, check out the YouTube video for Achy Breaky Heart, it ranks pretty high on the unintentional comedy scale. Word has it that he’ll be competing on Dancing With the Stars come March 19. He doesn’t strike me as the type of person that would have any moves, but the again some people surprise you with their talents.
- Johnny Cash’s younger sister, Joanne Cash, is set to release a gospel album in which she sings a couple of duets with The Man in Black himself. And the legend lives on.

Ahhh Billy Ray Cyrus. For more on him, listen to “The Achy Breaky Song” by Weird Al or at least look up the lyrics to that fantastic parody.

Keep in mind Billy Raye IS the now Hannah Montana’s dad – in real life and in the show – and a whole new generation of kids now know him for that instead of Achy Breaky.

Jenna mentioned something like that when she read it as well, however I still have no idea who she is.
