Country Music Hall of Fame Plans Exhibits for Johnny Cash and Gene Watson

That is awesome about Darius. He is the only “pop goes country” acts that I’m rooting for.

Definitely will be making a road trip to Nashville to see the exhibit.

And non-country news….I can’t believe Metallica has yet been inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame.

As a black male who has listened to country music since I was 3 or 4 I am very happy for Rucker. But I am very sad for country music. It makes me uncomfortable to see that there are not any people of color in country music. The influence of blacks and Hispanics on country music has been there since the genesis of country music. But if you were just being introduced to country today you would never know that, or even think that people of color live in the West or the South.

I think the fault rest mainly with the record makers. If they tried to establish people of color who are country music singers- the way they do every young, hunky white male who they think will sell cds- then maybe one would really catch on and stay. It should embarass country music makers that Rucker is the third black male to hit number one on the charts.

I have many friends, white and black, who are amazed, insulted, and nonplused by the fact that I support, endorse, and cheer for country music. But I think it is the best music this country has to offer. It is a real part of who I am as a man and a human being. But I am not blind or obtuse or in denial about the state of country music. From the poorly written songs to the pop sound to the ego and attitude I am concerned and confused about the future of something I love. And as a black American, who has invested in this music, I also want to see it grow. I want to see it reflect those Americans that are part of the story of country music, all of them.

I would also be reassured that the country music listener is not the stereotype that my friends would like to limit them to be. Rucker’s number one hit is a start. But I am cautious still.

“Miley Cyrus Wants To Say GoodBye Disney – Hello Singing Career!

Miley Cyrus is reportedly trying to get fired from TV show ‘Hannah Montana’ so she can focus on singing. The 15-year-old actress is said to be so desperate to leave the hit series that shot her to fame she has been arriving late on the set, stalling production and annoying cast and crew members, according to gossip website
TMZ.com.

Her father Billy Ray Cyrus, who also appears in the programme, allegedly supports her antics as he thinks she will make more money from her singing career than the Disney show.

Billy Ray has reportedly been boasting Miley will film just 12 more episodes before leaving the show. However, when furious Disney bosses learnt of his comments they are believed to have immediately called his agent and branded both him and Miley as “ingrates”.

Disney also insisted Miley finishes all 24 episodes in the season as planned and also decided to add six more shows to the run.

Miley’s close friend Emily Osment is reportedly so upset at her co-star’s behavior she is refusing to talk to her when they are not filming.

Emily’s father is said to have accused Billy Ray and Miley of behaving unprofessionally, resulting in a heated argument between the two men.”

Rick’s comments: Miley only has her so-called singing career because she is Hannah Montana! If she leaves the show she will likely be history in no time as her “tween” fan base will likely lose interest when they don’t see her on The Disney Channel on a daily basis.

If this article is true and Billy Ray is really supporting Miley is this descision, then I guess foolishness runs in the Cyrus family gene pool…

Or better yet, can’t she say goodbye to both and take up artic beet farming?
