- Like The Gobblers Knob I have a habit of spending too much money on books, but unlike The Knob I haven’t stepped foot inside a library in years. He recently discovered that aside from books the library also has a nice collection of music that you can check out.
- Lyle Lovett has been scheduled to play at the Americana 2007 Honors and Awards show, on Nov. 1 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. He’ll also be receiving the inaugural Trailblazer Award.
The Americana Trailblazer Award seeks to honor those emboldened artists who create timeless musical capsules of individualistic style and purpose, according to the association. “A connoisseur and catalyst of fine music, Lyle Lovett embodies the term genre-bending.

Urban said he was “out riding to an AA meeting, a time when my privacy is especially important to me, (when) I felt myself being pursued” by a photographer on another motorcycle.
“I sped up, and in an effort to elude an oncoming car which was making an illegal U-turn, saw no choice but to drop my bike,” the 39-year-old country singer said.
- Nashville star Chuck Wicks was asked by University of Tennessee coach Philip Fulmer to perform his latest single, “Stealing Cinderella”, at his daughter’s wedding. “Wicks immediately accepted the invitation to perform an acoustic version of the single at the reception this past Friday night.”
- Tracy Lawrence also played at a wedding this past weekend. He had the honor of performing for Clay Walker who married model Jessica Craig. They’ll be spending the next three weeks in Europe and Hawaii.

The library rocks. I get tons of new music there. Some I then turn around and buy, some I quietly return to the shelf. It’s genius.

While I’m not a fan of a lot of Urban’s music (though I don’t deny the talent) I do respect that he’s taking care of his problems (going to AA etc) and it annoys me that the world is so obsessed with celebrity status and up to the minute images of who they’re with and what they’re doing that it drives paparazzi photographers to endanger themselves, celebrities and others that are randomly caught in the mix for a shot because of how much the media will pay.
It sounds like he’s a classy guy. Dropping his bike to avoid an accident with an innocent (all-be-it dumb for making an illegal u-turn) party.
I may have to do a post on a topic like this…
