Chely Wright Returns To The Studio And Birdhouses Designed By Country Stars To Be Auctioned
- The bulk of the news is coming from Country Standard Time today:
- Chely Wright is returning tot he studio to begin work on her seventh album. Rodney Crowell will be producing the project. Maybe we’ll see some duets between the two.
- Gretchen Wilson has been working on her newest album as well. “One of the Boys” will be released on May 15th and is the produced by the two guys who produced her previous albums, Mark Wright and John Rich. Wilson had a hand in writing nine of the eleven songs and is anxious for people to start hearing them.
- I know some of you would love to have a birdhouse designed by a country music superstar.
Country music celebrity birdhouses designed or inspired by the likes of Dierks Bentley, Faith Hill, Rascal Flatts and Keith Urban, are being auctioned off as part of the sixth Annual “The Birdhouse Thing” auction, benefiting the W.O. Smith Nashville Community Music School.
Other country music performers participating include Trace Adkins, Clint Black, Sara Evans, Little Big Town, Josh Turner, The Wreckers and Wynonna.
The birdhouses will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to the W.O. Smith Nashville Community Music School, to provide a musical education for low-income children.
- Trent Tomlinson is returning to the Opry to sing his hit “One Wing In The Fire” and to debut his newest single “Just Might Have Her Radio On.” The article goes on to mention the word “debut” at least four times in two short paragraphs.
- Lonesome Music recommends Reeltime Travelers, describing them as a “little bit folk, a little bit country, a whole lot of sadness” and “mostly instrumental hoe-down music that gathers speed in a whirl of fiddle and mandolin.”
Reeltime Travelers mp3 Samples - John Mellencamp talks about going to Nashville and having some of his music cross over into country.
In a way, it seemed odd to see the heartland rock star inside country music’s insular world. But country acts have been aping Mellencamp’s sounds and styles for years now.
- Jason Aldean also talks about going to Nashville and being signed with Capitol Records, then being dropped because they weren’t looking for “hat acts.” He was later picked up by Broken Bow Records and then recorded three top ten hits.
The success also helped Jason reaffirm why he fell in love with country music in the first place. “That’s what’s great about country music in that it is based on life experiences,” he said. “I think anytime you go through any hardship it gives you ideas for songs and if you’ve lived it you can sing about it a little better, with conviction.”
- Rascal Flatts had to cancel their show at the Houston Livestock show & Rodeo last night due to Gary LeVox coming down with an illness. Clay Walker stepped in to take their place. Other performances were put on by Jack Ingram and Joe Nichols. If you ask me, I like the lineup sans Flatts.
