I dig the new Joey + Rory w/ZBB. Cool tune – hope to add that one here real soon.
Stoked for a new ZBB album in the fall. Now, about making up those cancelled shows north of the border from summer ’09…….??!!
Lady A continues to dig themselves a hole in my world…..Maroon 5…..?? Really?? Sigh.

Congratulations to Carrie Underwood!
Marriage and a hit career – she can handle it!
July 13, 2010 at 1:14 pm
After three full days of marriage (Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday), I hope Carrie Underwood can handle it. Let me know how things turn out at the end of Friday-her sixth full day of being married!

I didn’t realise that Lonesome River Band were releasing a new record. A pleasant surprise to begin the morning I might add.

WHOA! Thanx 4 the heads up on the Gary Bennett cd. I am a HUGE br549 fan and wondered what was going on with Mr Bennett. The two songs on his myspace are killer!!!

Aww, how sweet of Josh Turner to do that, made me cry to read it =/
Love the new Joey + Rory single, can’t wait for the album, too!

I couldn’t make it through Joey+Rory’s new single. When Zac Brown chimed in about greed on Wall Street (typical class warfare gibberish), and followed it with a nebulous anti-war sentiment, that was it! Zac, please feel free to plant your fat ass on a beach somewhere and smoke that big fat joint of yours but leave political thoughts to persons with functional brains! I’ve never cared for Zac’s music and now I know why! Damned Obamavoters. Noeller, you and Canada can have Zac all to yourselves for all I care…
Wow, Pat Green having the most Texas airplay over the last decade is very disappointing! On the other hand the general state of Red Dirt / Texas regional music makes that result seem not so unusual.
Leon Rausch’s voice ain’t what it used to be. Although I like the concept of the new Asleep At The Wheel album with Leon, the execution will not likely be up to snuff for me. It’s like my reaction to Willie’s recent “Country Music” album all over again, ie great concept but No Sale!
If that Trisha’s song is typical of their repertoire, then I think a more appropriate group name might be “The Moaning Mary’s”, or “The Dyin’ Debbie’s”, or “The Wailin’ Wendy’s”, or well, you get the point.
Gary Bennett’s a fine songwriter but has a somewhat weak voice that doesn’t stand up well to live concert abuse. On the BR5-49 live album “Coast To Coast” Gary’s voice starts out weak and goes downhill rapidly from there. Chuck Mead had the much stronger set of pipes in that group.

LOL at Rick… or not.

Thanks to The Boot, I have about 6 songs at once playing in my head. And I guess we see who the music of Lady Antebellum is influencing: emo pop bands.
I’m looking forward to new music from the Zac Brown Band too.
July 13, 2010 at 9:53 pm
@Rick – - thanks buddy!! Hard to believe, but even our “Conservative” government is more liberal than your Obama-voters, so we’ll gladly take Zac and the boys up north here. They’ll get along well with the Doc Boys, and Jo Hikk, too!! :)
July 13, 2010 at 10:00 pm
I’m trying to figure out whether Rick thinks there’s no greed on Wall Street or just that it’s wrong to point it out.
July 13, 2010 at 11:37 pm
My question is…when did Zac Brown even say this stuff? I’m not saying it didn’t happen…but I didn’t hear/see anything about it.
July 14, 2010 at 12:24 am
I don’t think it was an anti-war statement, at least not in the way you’re referring to, Rick. I mean, I think what we’re doing in Iraq and Afghanistan is the right thing to do, but that doesn’t make me happy about the fact that my brother’s spent the vast majority of the last 5 years over there. The point of that line is more about the heart of someone that wishes we didn’t have to do something, but is willing to do it anyway because it’s got to be done. And for the record, Zac Brown doesn’t sing the lead until the bridge, as far as I can tell. I’m pretty confident its Rory Feek singing the male part throughout the verses.
July 14, 2010 at 1:35 pm
^ Yeah, Joey + Rory trade off singing parts on the verses; Zac just does the bridge
July 14, 2010 at 2:23 pm
Zac does the bridge, and then J+R, Zac and the whole band do the final chorus.
July 14, 2010 at 6:21 pm
I was disappointed with the new Joey + Rory song. I really love those guys (even met them once), and I’ve been eager to hear some new music from them, but I thought that song sounded like a pandering attempt to gain radio airplay. It kills me to say that, because I have never leveled such accusations at Joey + Rory before. But they pull out all the stops – give shout-outs to the soldiers, mention raising hell, and sling mud at the “fat cats.” They even add an appearance from country’s current super group for good measure. I wish they had stuck with “That’s Important to Me” as the debut single instead.
July 14, 2010 at 8:18 pm
I can’t get their song to play from their Myspace, so I can’t comment on it now. I have no idea if its pandering, but the fact that they use ZBB makes sense since they’ve been touring together for awhile, which often turns into collaborations.
July 15, 2010 at 8:02 am
@Ben – - Lady A guested on the track???
July 15, 2010 at 7:28 pm
@Leeann Ward: Yeah, Rory and Zac Brown wrote this song together and they’ve been singing it together out on concert, so it makes sense to released the song w/ his name and vocals on it too
July 15, 2010 at 10:21 pm
Rick,
Better watch it! You will be severely upbraided for comments like that on this website. Quite funny though.
July 16, 2010 at 5:11 am
@Leeann Ward
Thanks for pointing that out. I didn’t realize that at first, but the collaboration does make more sense now that you mention that.
@Noeller
Check that – “ONE OF country’s current supergroups.” I guess the Zac Brown Band may be a short step behind Lady A, but they are quickly becoming one of country’s biggest attractions. I’m not a fan of theirs per se, but I can’t help but notice how hot they’ve been lately.

Got the new Tim O’Brien and Lonesome river band cds. Some great music.

Chuck IS a great singer. Not too good of a songwriter although he had a few Br5-49 songs that were amazing. I have to disagree with you about Gary’s vocals. Have you heard Gary’s first solo album “Human Condition”? If you listen to that or the clips from his new record on his myspce I think you’d take back your statement about his vocals. I’m a huge Br5-49 fan and love both he and Chuck but to say Gary had the weaker voice I’m not sure I agree. Listen to the way he belts out Hickory Wind on that first or second album they did.
