Once in a great while, an artist releases a song that that grabs you deep in the comfortable warmth of your cockles and won’t let go, no matter how you struggle against its hairy, intrusive hands. A song that embraces all you hold essential to your being in an invigorating and fresh way that makes you look at life and its little details in a new and appreciative light. A song that voices all the thoughts and memories in the recesses of your most sentimental moments….
Is this the same Farce the Music that we’ve come to know and love?
- In this week’s edition of “Quotable Country,” C.M. Wilcox takes Dierks Bentley to task over his number of feet in his possession and challenges readers to comment with a brand that better represents Rascal Flatts than American Living.

- For those looking to gain insight into Jake Owen’s world, look no further than his current album.
“I think a lot of times artists take one issue and revolve an entire record around it,” Owen says. “This is taking my whole life and revolving a whole record around it. I’m not the quintessential hat-wearing, farm-raised, tractor-riding country boy by any means. But I grew up listening to the same music they did. People like Alan Jackson and Conway Twitty, they were all able to sell songs and sing them in a simple way.”
- Five alt-country songs have been added to the content available for download for the Rock Band video game. They include: Neko Case’s ”People Got A Lotta Nerve,” Steve Earle’s “Satellite Radio,” Lucinda Williams‘ “Can’t Let Go,” Drive-By Truckers‘ “Three Dimes Down” and the Old 97’s “Timebomb (live).”
- Watch the video for Melonie Cannon’s take on “Back to Earth,” which features the song’s writer, Willie Nelson.

You shouldn’t be singing country music then. Oh wait, you don’t.

Yeah, let’s boycott every country artist that doesn’t grow up on a farm.

DBT’s “Three Dimes Down” would be sweet to try to play. Great song. Glad they added some alt. My wife is trying to get me to agree to us getting Rock Band… I want Guitar Hero.

They generally send you home a week or so after bypass surgery, don’t they? In Miller’s case I’m sure they’ll tell him to stay in Baltimore for a few weeks, but I doubt he’ll be in the hospital all that time.
I wish him the best.

I’m glad I read all the way through Trailer’s review of the new Justin Moore single. I was beginning to get a bit nervous! Whatever happened to songs like Don Williams’ “Lord Have Mercy on a Country Boy”? Crikey.
I like the Melonie Cannon video, but she really should have been wearing some Willie braids! Seriously, the multiple number of outfits she’s wearing in the video are a distraction. Also, she needs a new make-up artist to deal more effectively with the areas under her eyes. Melonie is no spring chicken, so she should look as young in her videos as she can! Uh oh, sounds like I’m spending too much time reading People and US magazines at my barber’s, dentist’s, and doctor’s offices…

Rick’sRandom Tidbits: Here’s a press release from AllAboutCountry.com that makes me scratch my head a bit:
“Broken Bow Records Chooses Loudmouth For Publicity – Karen Tallier’s Company Grows!
Karen Tallier’s Loudmouth Entertainment picks up the Publicity for Broken Bow Records. Broken Bow is the label home for Jason Aldean, Randy Owen, Dean Brody, Megan Mullins, Crossin Dixon, Ash Bowers and Krista Marie.
Tallier formed Loudmouth in 2003 with a focus primarily on publicity campaigns but has since expanded into a full service publicity and marketing company consulting in all areas of entertainment including publicity campaigns, artist development, tour press, identity branding, marketing and special event promotions.
Loudmouth also handles publicity for Mark Wills, Joe Diffie, Bryan White, Hollywood Yates and the 2009 Honky Tonk Tailgate Party.”
Rick’s comment: Does that last sentence make any of the rest of you question the wisdom of Broken Bow in this matter? The article included a picture of Miss Tallier and she is a very pretty brunette, which may have clouded the judgement of Broken Bow management. I think BBR should focus on keeping jason Aldean happy as he is their primary source of income these days. If Jason pulls a “Craig Morgan” BBR could quickly wind up like Montage or Equity…

Bryan White has a publicity agent? Heck, Rainbow over in the forums has done more to promote him than any PR flack in the last 5 years has.

“Play The Song,” eh? That’s not gonna get airplay either, sadly.

Rick, All labels need pr people and they chose Loudmouth instead of their own in-house one. Likewise, artists, even ones who’ve been away like Bryan White, need/want PR people, especially when they’re getting ready to release new product. The Tailgate tour this year is Jeff Bates, Trent Willmon and Mark Wills.

Question for ya Rick – do you honestly think everyone is as superficial as you? just curious – seems you can’t mention any female on this board without telling us whether she’s attractive or not
