First off, go check out Brody’s review of the Randy Rogers Band concert last Saturday night. I added a few pictures to the bottom of his post.

Afterwards, you can finish reading the following news.

  • I guess Bucky Covington must have proved he’s got what it takes to be a country music performer afterall, for he has been signed to Lyric Street Records. Bucky’s first single, “Different World,” is confirmed to be released later this month.
  • Jo Dee Messina will begin her new year in Italy, with her first USO tour. The tour starts Friday the 5th and she will visit Naples, Venice, and Vicenza over a five day period.
  • By now I’m sure everyone has been informed about Jessica Simpson’s mishaps at the Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Dolly Parton. After she pulled the plug of her second performance from being aired, her father/manager Joe Simpson has been reported to be furious that the Kennedy Center won’t reimburse him for the stylist’s fees, which equaled $15,000.
  • Emmylou Harris will be interviewed here in Austin in March during the South by Southwest (SXSW) music industry conference. The interview will include acoustic performances.
  • Jimmy Buffett’s latest album Take The Weather With You has been certified gold and is his second consecutive No. 1 debut album on the Billboard Country chart.
  • Clay Walker will perform several hits at the first event of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) 2007 season. His concert will take place during on Saturday, January 6th at Madison Square Garden. The performance will air on NBC on Sunday, January 7th at 2:30 p.m. ET.

I’m very glad Jimmy Buffett is finally getting some recognition BEYOND Cheeseburger in Paradise. I’m a huge fan of his other stuff like “The Weather Is Here, I Wish You Were Beautiful”, and “Volcano”.

Jimmy Buffet has a lot of good stuff if people are willing to dig. He’s also had a huge influence in the careers of a few other successful country singers as well.
