Buck Jones Killed In Car Accident On The Way To His Next Gig
- Willie, Merle, and Ray talk about recording their Last of the Breed album, which comes out tomorrow.
“It was real easy to figure out what to record,” Price said. “We all three went in with songs we’ve loved for years, decided on which ones we’d do, pull one out, say yeah that’s by so-and-so, get the words up and go do it.
- The Herald Democrat has a review of the Luckenbach Compadres! album, originally titled Viva Terilingua! Nuevo! after the Jerry Jeff Walker album.
- Altoona Mirror takes a look at Dierks Bentley’s career thus far and the direction it’s headed in. He’ll be playing in PA this Thursday with Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert. It should be an awesome show full of up and coming talent.
A devout Christian, Bentley’s latest album has a greater focus on religious themes then his previous two discs. Songs include “The Heaven I’m Headed To” and “Prodigal Son’s Prayer.”
“Traveling sometimes, you get to thinking about the road of life. It wasn’t a conscious effort (to be more religious), it just kind of came out more,” Bentley says.
- Tracy Lawrence concert review from Silver City, FL.
- Joey Guerra on Houston Chronicle talks about the Brooks & Dunn performance at the rodeo and seems a little disappointed, saying “the country duo recycled large chunks of last year’s performance onstage Saturday in Reliant Stadium.”
- Sometime early Saturday morning Buck Jones was driving to his next gig, a private performance, with his guitarist and friend, Jon Byrd, when their tire blew out. Jones walked off in the dark to find a mile marker and never returned. He was hit and killed by a driver. In another article I read the driver was charged with intoxicated vehicular manslaughter, or something of that nature. Buck Jones left behind a wife and a seven month old son. It’s an extremely sad and tragic situation that’s hard to even write about.

We've labored long and hard to come up with our list of the Top 10 Country Albums of 2008. Click here to see who claimed the honor of the year's top album, as chosen by The 9513's staff and writers.
Don’t confuse disappointing with worst, as that list would most likely be dominated by obscure indie knockoff bands along with a couple of mainstream releases. There has to be a modicum of expectation that’s dashed upon the release of an album for it to qualify for the year’s most disappointing.
Join host Kelly Dearmore as he shines the light on several noteworthy album releases you might have missed and interviews various artists, from Sarah Borges to Trent Willmon and Reckless Kelly to Wade Bowen, in the first two episode of The 9513 podcast.
