DONT go to her site, it has that annoying “let’s talk about the song” stuff going on. You guys would have to see the thing I do about that to understand how funny that kind of stuff is – even if you like it, you’d laugh.

Holly Williams is ACTUALLY good. I hate to give any credit to people that are born into it. Let’s be honest, in a position like that you cant’ really have a true struggle, even if you wanted to. But she is. She needs a bit catchier of a song though, her current single isn’t doing it for me.

Rick’s Random Tidbits Vol. 2: In her most recent MySpace blog entry (June 30) Sarah Buxton was talking about getting together with a new producer who “thinks outside the box”. She won’t mention names yet (until its “Fo Sho”) but my curiousity is piqued! Could it be Brett Beavers (possible), or Buddy Cannon (hopefully), or Carl Jackson (not likely), or more likely someone I’m not familiar with. Its probably a “rockin’ country” kind of producer, so we’ll have to wait to see!

I’m looking forward to hearing Holly Williams on the Opry tomorrow night. I hope she sings “Mama” as that is one fantastic country song.

I’d love to see a Hank III “country show” but I too would head for the doors before his “punk” set. Hank III should have Unknown Hinson do a set between his two musical personas as it would make a nice transition! (lol)

Whitney Duncan is sooo skinny what other type of dipping could she do? (lol) Other favorite songs that reference skinny dipping: Blake Shelton’s “Cotton Pickin’ Time” and Amber Dotson’s wonderful “Good Ol’ Boy’s Kinda Girl” which is on her MySpace player and sadly no where else to my knowledge.

If pop music critics held any real sway over the listening public, then Celine Dion wouldn’t have sold more than 200 million albums worldwide; Amadou & Mariam, Ashton Shepherd and Animal Collective would be international stars; and fans would be filling stadiums for Sufjan Stevens and Jamey Johnson instead of Bon Jovi and Kenny Chesney.

Shouldn’t that article be titled: Pop Music Critics Are Smart And You Should Listen To Them?

Haha! That looks hilarious! I reluctantly admit to being a Celine fan.

The B&D compilation looks strong but I wish it included “Hard Workin’ Man” and “Building Bridges.”

Another year, another Toby Keith CD. Blech.

I love that Craig Shelburne gave a shout out to Suzy Bogguss’ Aces album. An old favorite of mine.

And as for Jimmy Wayne? Good lord. It looks like the start of a Playgirl photo shoot gone bad. Ugh.
