Brad Paisley Has A New Baby Boy And Diamond Rio Is Feeling More Creative
- The Akron Beacon Journal has an article about the resurgence of Trace Adkins’ career, and like most articles about Adkins these days the subject of the song Badonkadonk is covered. Adkins also talks about how he was labeled a neotraditionalist who was going to to bring the honky tonk back to country, he says:
“I spoke up quickly and said, hey, don’t put that onus on me, because I will sorely disappoint you, because that’s not all I am and that’s not all I’m about. I love that stuff and I dig that kind of music, and I still do it, but that’s not all I do.”
- Back in my senior year of high school it seemed like I couldn’t make the seventeen mile trip to school every morning without hearing at least one Chris Cagle song on the radio, of course that was before the country station turned into a techno station as well. So what has he been doing in that six year span? In 2004 he had a throat ailment that stalled his career. In 2005 he came back with a strong single, “Miss Me Baby,” but the album overall didn’t do much. Currently he’s working on a new album and expects the first single to be out this spring.
- Loretta Lynn on what gets played by today’s country music radio stations:
“It’s hard for me to watch what goes on today, knowing how it started. I think what bothers me mostly is the stuff they get by with. You can hear ‘em put a record out, and it’s absolutely not what it should be. But it gets played, and as long as they get played it’s gonna keep happening. A lot of ‘em don’t have the songs. When I started, you had to have the song. It didn’t matter how good you sang it; it was the song.”
- Brad Paisley and his wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley, had their first child, a baby boy, yesterday morning in a Nashville-area hospital.
- Charlie Louvin, who will be 80 in July, is scheduled to hit the road to tour for his newest album. If only we all have such good health at 80. In the article Louvin talks about his new album, his producer, and performing with new groups that definitely are not country.
- Now that Diamond Rio has split from their record label they feel like they can be more creative with their music.
Roe said the new music will actually be more representative of what the band is in its live shows — with a bit of bluegrass, a bit of gospel, a bit of stone country and, of course, the pop sound for which Diamond Rio has become known.
