That Joey + Rory interview from CMT is a hoot. Now that I’ve met them in person I like them even more since they are such truly friendly down home people. I gave Joey a CD-R of Aussie cowgirl / bush ballad music by Anita Ree which I think she will enjoy. Since so few people came to their LA concert I would count LA’s FM country station among those who didn’t spin “Cheater Cheater”. (I don’t listen so I don’t know for sure though…) On a related note the original version of “Cheater Cheater” as recorded by BOMSHEL is available for download purchase!

Oh great, another RFD TV music show I’d love to see in addition to Marty Stuart’s variety show that isn’t available on my cable system! Aarrgghh! Since Heather Myles is now signed to the Heart of Texas label, its not surprising her show will feature a lot of her label mates. Hey, where’s Kimberly Murray on that list? I’m glad to seee Miss Leslie has been included. Man, that will be my kind of show…

On a more contemporary note, Trace Adkins will release “All I Ask For Anymore” as next single. I’m sort of surprised they take advantage of the momentum built for “Til’ The Last Shot’s Fired”. I assume we won’t get to see it as a single now.

surprised they didn’t take advantage, that is.

Amazon has a couple country tunes available for free download this week. “Mama” by Holly Williams is a rare song about mothers that doesn’t sound completely cloying and sappy (as least judging by the preview), and “In My Time Of Dyin’” by the Lovell Sisters reminds me of the Duhks’ “Ol’ Cook Pot.” And even if you’re not into zydeco and reggae, the freebies from Buckwheat Zydeco and Ziggy Marley (with Paul Simon) sound pretty fun.

Thanks for the tip, Sam. “Mama” is my favorite song off of Holly’s new album and everyone who reads our posts should go download it immediately!!!! Its too bad this song wasn’t Holly’s current single rather than “Keep The Change”. Oh well….

Congrats to Dolly Parton who scored a Tony nomination for Best Original Score. Her reaction to the nomination is here:

I highly recommend the Bobby Duncan CD being released today. He is a young star with endless potential. This CD was produced by the legendary Walt Wilkins so if you like his laid back easy to listen to style, this record is for you!

Matt, thanks for the info! After I posted my comment I dropped by Roughstock and read about this in your free downloads article. I still expect Top 40 country radio to ignore Holly and “Mama”, but it won’t be because of the song being weak. Maybe they should release this to Americana radio as well where a song’s merit still counts for something. I’m glad they are switching singles and wish Lyric Street would have pulled Sarah Buxton’s “Space” early and substituted “There You Go” instead. Each non-established artist gets only so many radio single releases that don’t take before they get axed, and Sarah may have reached her limit.

I refreshed my downloads today on Emusic. I made a beeline to David Davis and the Warrior Boys, The Gibson Brothers, Wayne Hancock and Dale Watson’s new cds.
