Birthday Giveaway: Townes Van Zandt

Nobody can deny that Townes Van Zandt had a profound impact on numerous artists and genres, even after he was gone, which is illustrated by the fact that at least six Townes Van Zandt albums were released last year and three thus far this year. He was born March 7, 1944 and in celebration of his birthday and impact on the country music genre we’re giving away two songs to anyone who comments on this post before March 8. It hasn’t garnered as much attention as we’d like it to, but I think when new visitors come by after the promotion has ended they like the idea and end up sticking around. But yea, feel free to borrow whatever you’d like.

I only recently discovered Steve Earl by way of Emmylou and while looking for him came across references to Townes Van Zandt. Sorry I missed the promotion. I’ll be dropping by more often.
