Tonight’s Opry is the annual “Fan Fair Special” show and will feature The Band Perry, Josh Turner, Trisha Yearwood, a few oldie Legends, and Carrie Underwood having the entire final half hour segment to herself! NorthTexasVet should be happy about that! I’ll be listening until Carrie starts her caterwalling…
That new Asleep At The Wheel project sounds interesting, but how does Leon sound these days? Maybe they should have invited Jake Hooker and Tony Booth to join in the project. Hmm…
Texas based fans of Western Swing might want to head over to Synder later this week as they will have daily concerts from Wednesday the 9th through Saturday the 12th. Details can be found at:
Snyder’s Website: http://www.snyderchamber.org
Is that Bucky Covington quote verbatim? I think he meant “amateurs” rather than “armatures” which are usually only found inside electric motors…

Whoa. Congratulations to Karlie and “The 9-5-1-3.”

If you like bluegrass at all, don’t let the hoopla surrounding Dierks’ very excellent album distract you so much that you ignore Junior Sisk’s.
Buddy Cannon is indeed “back at his daily activities,” which include maintaining one of the funniest personal pages on Facebook.

I love Junior Sisk!

Already picked up the new Dierks and looking forward to getting the new Cadillac Sky if I can find it anywhere around here!

Sarah Buxton fans will enjoy a new interview posted over at Country Standard Time where Sarah talks about The Buxton Hughes Band.

I’m shocked the NineBullets folks would love a new album from Wade Bowen! That’s about as unexpected as Bill Clinton chasing every cute skirt he encounters…
Congratulations to Karlie on her new gig! I’d highly recommend Karlie take some basic courses in meteorology so she can set her sights on becoming a big bucks “weather babe” on her local TV news broadcast! Go Karlie! (lol)

Congratulations Karlie! That is amazing.

For anyone interested in Dierks’ new album, it’s $6.99 at Best Buy- $3 cheaper than on Amazon MP3 or iTunes AND you get the physical CD!
June 8, 2010 at 6:49 pm
It’s $7.99 ($1 more) on Amazon for the digital album and digital booklet. But cheaper for the physical product is cool.

The new Bentley album is really fantastic.

Jewel’s new album is pure awesomeness <3 I'm thrilled that it's finally here at last! =)
June 8, 2010 at 7:39 pm
How does it compare to Pieces of You and Spirit?
June 9, 2010 at 12:20 am
I’ve never listened to those albums, because I haven’t followed her career prior to her country crossover
June 9, 2010 at 4:58 am
I didn’t think much of Jewel’s new one after the first listen, but I suppose it could grow on me. “Pieces Of You” and “Spirit” weren’t my type of music, but as far as I could tell, “Sweet And Wild” didn’t have the lyrical edge and skill Jewel showed on those albums.
June 9, 2010 at 2:49 pm
I think Sweet and Wild is a step above Perfectly Clear, which is my opinion an already fantastic album
The only drawback I noticed was that she re-used a couple lines, which I don’t -really- have a problem with because they’re good lines… but when I hear the line “The light bulbs buzz” in “Fading,” I can’t help but think of that line used in “Stronger Woman”

Julia C H – thanks so much! It’s been a blast so far. Follow along on Twitter @The9513 – the radio station has tweeted out the audio, so hopefully folks can follow along that way.
June 10, 2010 at 12:22 am
Will do. Looking forward to it.

Can’t wait to see the site review Dierks new album. I was hesitant about the whole bluegrass idea, but it turned into a fantastic project. Great album through and through… the worst song is easily the lead single, so I really don’t know why they chose that one, but whatever, I’m sure with all the huge names involved in this it will get the recognition it deserves regardless.
June 11, 2010 at 6:38 pm
And I just realized I missed Matt C. and Rick’s kind words as well – thanks guys, I really appreciate it. It’s a fun gig, and Fox 103 has been great to work with.
