Elizabeth Cook’s MySpace blog entries are always entertaining and this latest installment is no exception. I can’t wait to hear her new album when it finally becomes available sometime nest year. As much as I like Elizabeth though I can’t stand the GEICO pothole commercial which stands as one of the most annoying commercials ever. Bring back the Gecko! (lol)
Caitlin Rose definitely has a bit of the Iris Dement thing going on with some Emmylou mixed in for good measure. I was pleasantly surprised to find it only cost $ 7 to purchase her recent “Dead Flowers” EP including shipping from the Theory 8 label website! That’s cool, dude…

The pedigree of “Stealing Angels” will surely get them on the stage at the Opry but absolutely nowhere with mainstream country radio. Good luck ladies.
OK, so who’s the big MadViolet fan at The 9513? I wouldn’t mind seeing these gals open for Corb Lund though…

Ooops, forgot to mention the official announcement of Eamon’s departure from The Greencards:
“Today we announce the departure of fiddler Eamon McLoughlin, a member of the band since its inception in Austin Texas seven years ago, who is leaving to pursue other musical challenges at the end of the year.
“We wish Eamon all the very best for his future endeavors and thank him for being a part of the great musical journey over the past seven years.”
“Eamon would like to thank Kym and Carol for this wonderful adventure together, and many more thanks to all of the people who have supported the band — anyone who has come to a show, listened to our music, played the band on the radio, and everyone who took a risk on the band when no-one knew who we were. With all sincerity, thank you very much.”
Opry Alert:
Dierks Bentley gets the entire final half hour segment to himself on tonight’s Opry show! Other artists being featured include Dailey & Vincent, Jason Michael Carroll, and “Mr. Sara Smile” himself Jimmy Wayne!

I think Alan Jackson should participate in the Waylon Jennings tribute album. He could nail Rose In Paradise.

This will be the third all-star Waylon tribute Cd since his death. I love his music, but these tribute albums are rarely worth the media they’re printed/stored on…

I know that James Otto and Jamey Johnson will be on that Waylon tribute cd. Definitely cannot wait to hear it. Dierks always sings Lonesome, Onry, and Mean at his shows, so that will be a treat. Glad that they keep bringing tribute to Waylon albums out. :)

I liked one they put out a while ago – I think it was called I’ve Always Been Crazy? It had a killer Dwight Yoakum version of ‘Stop the World and Let Me Off’ and a Brooks & Dunn doing ‘I Ain’t Living Long Like This’ as an ACTUAL DUET!
