Aaron Watson Giveaway: Angels & Outlaws

Angels & Outlaws contains covers of Waylon and John Mayer, a scripture reading by Billy Joe Shaver, “Barbed Wire Halo” from Aaron Watson’s previous album of the same name, and eleven new songs, with most of them featuring a writing credit by Watson. Kevin Fowler, Jack Ingram, Roger Creager, and Ray Benson make an appearance on the final track, “That’s What I Like About A Country Song.”
The fine folks over at Aaron Watson’s camp sent us a few of his new albums, so after hooking up all of our friends and relatives and their friends, we only have ten copies left. Not really, but Aaron’s people were gracious enough to hook us up with ten copies to give away. To enter, leave a comment telling us what your favorite song of Aaron’s is, and if you haven’t listened to his music before, any comment will do. Be sure to leave a valid email address. We’ll announce a random winner for the next five days and give the rest away next Monday. Note: We will be sending these email addresses to the sponsor and will contact you for your shipping address if you’re a winner.

First comment!
The first song of Aaron’s that I ever heard was “Off the Record,” but “Barbed Wire Halo” is by far one of my favorites.

I’ve never heard any of his stuff, but would like to!

I recently downloaded his free sampler off his website and love it….would love to hear more!

“Off the Record” is my fave, cuz it is so the opposite of how I felt during my divorce. It almost read like a fantasy tale similar to Lord of the Rings or something. It is so out of the realm of how I felt. Gimme those papers Woman, I need to sign on that dotted line ;)

I haven’t heard him before either. But I would like to.
Thanks!

I recently ordered a copy of San Angelo off of Half.com and think I got stiffed as the CD never arrived and contact with the seller has been futile! Aarrgghh! Winning a free copy of Aaron’s new CD would more than make up for my being taken for a ride! (lol) The recent single reviewed here at The 9513 was excellent, so if the other songs are of that caliber it should be quite an album.

“Off the Record” is the only one I am familiar with but I admit I didn’t realize it was him until reading these comments. I have a mixed CD of Texas Red Dirt music and this is one of my favourites off that disk.
I’m listening to his MySpace now and I’m really liking what I hear!

I havn’t heard his stuff yet, but I really want to. I love learning about artists and exporing their talent and their styles. I think Aaron could be very promising just by seeing his following here.

I actually just heard his song, Hearts Are Breaking Across Texas, its awsome. This guys got something!!! It’s got an Alan Jackson George Strait field to it that makes it sound really awsome.

I haven’t heard any of his stuff, but I just listened to some clips on iTunes and they all sounded good.

I can just hear Aaron blasting over my speakers this summer at Jamboree in the Hills campground or camping for 4 days in Indy for the Brickyard, but mostly to introduce my friends to Texas music. They don’t know what they’re missing.

My favorite song of his is Good Thing Going off of San Angelo. It just really has a good feel to it.
March 25, 2008 at 4:59 pm Permalink
My favorite Aaron Watson song is Haunted House. The lyrics really do a good job of putting across the idea this guy is super lonely.
March 25, 2008 at 5:26 pm Permalink
I don’t really know his stuff, but I’m sure he’s great, so I’m interested. Thanks.

Off the Record is such a great song. I saw him open for Gary Allan/Craig Morgan in Waco last year and he puts on a great show. You can tell he works hard for his audience.
March 25, 2008 at 6:17 pm Permalink
Hmmm, favorite Aaron Watson song? That’s a toughie…
I’ll go with “Reckless”… just such a fun, summer song. Other favorites include “San Angelo”, “Good Thing Goin’”, and “Barbed Wire Halo”. I would love to grab a copy of his new CD.

I only have his San Angelo album so far but on that one ‘Except For Jessie’ stands out and I like how he can mix up the sound a little on a song like ‘Unbelievably Beautiful’.

The 9513 continues to rock in that country way!! Loved the review of Gary Allan’s new single, Leaning How to Bend. I think he has another #1 in the bag! Seeing Gary in B-more in May! Glad he will be one of the first artists to play so I can leave early if the Ken Chesney crowd gets out of hand…..

My favorite song is Barbed Wire Halo, (which I got thru Aaron’s website) I absolutely love the line where it say he sat in the back “so he could chew him a chaw”. Good music is really hard to come by these days and this guy really nails it every time!
March 26, 2008 at 9:21 pm Permalink
Wow. I’ve been listening to clips of his music on MySpace, his website, LoneStarMusic, and iTunes, and it sounds great. I just got done reading a new interview he did and it just made me like him even more:

Up until I heard “Hearts are Breaking,” my favorite was “Off the Record”. All of my favorite songs are from writers who really write from the heart; Aaron is one of them. Only thing I wish is that Aaron would cut “Hearts are Breaking” again as a waltz. I’ve been hearing it in my head as a waltz since the first time I heard it. If I were a new bride, I couldn’t think of a more wonderful lyric to hear while dancing with my new husband.
Happy Trails!
