A Closer Look At Curtis Potter
If you’ll recall our last Lost Album Series article, the album in question was by an artist named Curtis Potter. Unfortunately we haven’t received any information about the lost album, but quite fortunately, we did receive a few albums from his current label. After listening to a few samples, I emphatically recommended that anyone go give him a listen. Well, after hearing a few albums, nothing has changed. Curtis Potter is the real deal and he has been for quite some time, although he doesn’t get the attention he deserves.
After discovering Curtis Potter, I purchased a CD by Willie Nelson and Curtis off of eBay called Six Hours At Pedernales. I bought it on a whim since I pretty much grew up on the Pedernales River. The fact that it was by two artists I like didn’t hurt, either. The album is enjoyable and I found it interesting to hear Willie Nelson adopt Potter’s style of music. It’s not his usual forte, but he does well. The comments in the CD jacket, written by the producer, say that they nailed the vocals on each song the first or second time through. Listening to the CD, you’d think they spent much more time on it than just a few hours. Amazon has the album if you want to sample some of the tracks or want to purchase it for a few bucks.
