Um, because they want people to hear their music?

I hate when Carrie and Taylor are grouped together. I can see the point though. But they definitely don’t sing (well Carrie sings at least) the same type of songs. What scares me is ““to be able to play the Grand Ole Opry on Tuesday and then fly off and do the MTV Awards on Saturday.” MTV is trash. Why would anyone of right mind want to play there? But anyway, I’m already bored of the young, pop acts…now there is going to be gobs more? Scary.

The “CMA Songwriter’s Series” is hitting the road and coming to both LA and Chicago with each show hosted by Bob DiPiero. Here’s the part that kills me:
Los Angeles Line-up: Kellie Pickler, Chris Lindsey, & Aimee Mayo
Chicago Line-up: Lee Ann Womack, Dean Dillon, & Scotty Emerick

If the Chicago line-up was coming to LA, I’d be there standing eagerly by the stage at the House of Blues. As it stands I wouldn’t attend the LA show if someone gave me a free ticket. Sheesh…

Wayne The Train Hancock was here in LA last week and I unfortunately missed his shows. This is another good Americana music week here in LA with John Doe and The Sadies at the Echolplex on Thursday night, and Dave Alvin and the Guilty Women at the Santa Monica Pier the same night! Sheesh. Sadly my concert budget has run dry for the time being.

Speaking of Dave Alvin, he was in attendance at Grant Langston’s “CD Release Party” at the Grand Ole Echo yesterday. Grant actually had a raffle where he gave away the following prizes: 1) Three of his CDs, 2.) An embroidered western men’s shirt, 3) a 750 ml bottle of Jack Daniel’s, and my personal favorite 4) a 12 pack of Shiner Bock beer on ice in an oblong galvanized bucket (which unlike Hank’s did not have a hole in it! lol). Grant was selling his CD’s for $ 5 each, obviously following Miss Leslie’s lead on that one…

Baron has it right yet again. great commentary on the NYP article. Carrie Underwood and Taylor swift are the modern women pioneers of country…the really irritating part is that they think they are.

For those that want to see exactly what happened at Big Valley Jamboree on Saturday – the cameras were rolling. It’s terrifying to see just how quickly the wind came in out of nowhere. One confirmed dead, with at least 2 more in critical condition in hospital. Horrible night and our prayers are with everyone.
