12 Days of Christmas Giveaway: The King of Christmas
The 9513’s 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway
Today marks the tenth day of Christmas at The 9513, and so far we’ve given away (as promised) a ton of cool prizes. Today’s prize pack is the biggest and best yet. Want to win six CDs? I knew you’d say yes to that question.
And don’t forget–you only have two more days to get yourself registered for the grand prize drawing to be held on Christmas day.
Day Ten:
Our featured album today comes to us courtesy of our friends at Sony. Christmas Duets uses modern recording technology to seamlessly pair the the King of Rock’n'Roll with some of country’s finest singers on a collection of Elvis’ most beloved holiday music. The album’s 13 tracks feature duets with Martina McBride, LeAnn Rimes, Wynonna, and a stirring rendition of “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” with Carrie Underwood.
Watch: Elvis & Martina McBride – “Blue Christmas”

Today we’re also giving you a chance to win the deluxe version of the critically acclaimed third release from mainstream powerhouse duo Sugarland. Love on the Inside finds Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush blazing new trails artistically; the album strikes a unique balance between organic undertones and the polished sheen that has come to define much of the duo’s music.
“…Once Jennifer [Nettles] and partner Kristian Bush hit their stride with the stirring “We Run,” they go barreling down the track and never look back. The remainder of the songs here represent the best of what contemporary country can be–musically modern but warm and organic; lyrically stark, clever, challenging and even daringly abstract by turns. By the end of the race…they’ve earned a spot in the winner’s circle.”
–Chris Neal, Country Weekly
“We can only hope, as Sugarland’s Kristian Bush gently plucks a melody from his six-string, ushering in Jennifer Nettles’ low, emotive twang and the Dobro that subtlety underlines “Very Last Country Song,” the stunning ballad at the end of Love on the Inside, that the song’s title is a misnomer, and the duo will be writing country songs for a long time to come.”
–Jim Malec, American Songwriter Magazine (Sept/Oct)
In addition to these two great albums, today’s winner will also receive:
Hayes Carll – Trouble in Mind
Joe Nichols – A Traditional Christmas
Kevin Costner & Modern West – Untold Truths
Eli Young Band – Always the Love Songs (Autographed Copy)
Today’s Question:
To enter today’s giveaway, all you have to do is leave a comment to this article answering the following question:
If you could pair any two singers (dead or alive) for a Christmas duet of your choice, who would you pick, and what song would you have them sing?
Entries must be posted no later than 11:00 AM CST, December 24th. Good luck, and merry Christmas from The 9513.

Trisha Yearwood and Lee Ann Womack for sure. I have no idea for which song, but for those two? It doesn’t matter; it’ll still be amazing.
December 23, 2008 at 12:26 pm Permalink
Hmm that’s really tough. It’s hard to know what they would sound like together, but my 2 favorite artists are Faith Hill and Keith Urban, so I’d like to hear them do a duet. All in good time.
December 23, 2008 at 12:28 pm Permalink
Oops, forgot the song part. Maybe Jingle Bell Rock. They could have fun with that and Keith could do some guitar jamming.
December 23, 2008 at 12:30 pm Permalink
That’s a heck of a prize pack. I’d go with Josh Turner and Johnny Cash singing “Silent Night.”
December 23, 2008 at 12:33 pm Permalink
That sounds like a really cool duet, Andrew. I think I would go with Reba and Jennifer Nettles and let them sing ‘White Christmas’.
December 23, 2008 at 12:37 pm Permalink
I’d want to hear Elvis and BB King do “Blue Christmas.”
December 23, 2008 at 12:46 pm Permalink
James Otto and Randy Houser could sing the alphabet together to me. I almost said Adam Hood-very good and similar style, but he’d get lost a little bit in the mix, I fear.

Ashley Monroe and just about anyone — and would not care as to the song – just to hear her on the radio –
December 23, 2008 at 12:53 pm Permalink
That is a tough question. So many choices, all of them good too. I would have to say Jamey Johnson (his deep vocals for “In Color” are great in my opinion) and Faith Hill. I don’t know Christmas songs very well; I’m not picky!
December 23, 2008 at 1:01 pm Permalink
A Christmas duet by Dwight Yoakam and Jennifer Nettles would be very interesting! It would definitely be swingin’!
December 23, 2008 at 1:01 pm Permalink
Eek! Bigger prizes and the questions are getting harder! LOL
I’d like to hear a Dierks Bentley/Alison Kraus duet. Especially if it was heavy on the bluegrass. Dierks doesn’t have any Christmas songs yet and Alison sounds like an angel so I think they’d be a great match. Any song would do.
December 23, 2008 at 1:07 pm Permalink
Vince and Alison singing any Christmas song together.
December 23, 2008 at 1:19 pm Permalink
Easy answer- Johnny and June Cash singing anything they wanted…
December 23, 2008 at 1:35 pm Permalink
I’d love to hear Gary Allan and Sheryl Crow sing either “O Holy Night” or “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”. Then again, I could be greedy and say I’d like to hear both :)
December 23, 2008 at 1:38 pm Permalink
Josh Turner and Richard Sturban. I dont know which song. Something lively. Rockin’. Fun.
December 23, 2008 at 1:48 pm Permalink
Tammy Wynette and Carrie Underwood singing “Joy to the World”. Something big and meaningful. I heard Carrie sing “Stand By Your Man” on the Opry and it was so close to Tammy’s voice. They would sound great together!
I’d love to turn in my other prize for the KING!
December 23, 2008 at 1:59 pm Permalink
How about Conway Twitty and Tina Turner growling their way through “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”
December 23, 2008 at 2:05 pm Permalink
Dierks and Martina – Santa Looked alot Like Daddy
December 23, 2008 at 2:39 pm Permalink
Allison Kraus and Josh Turner. Josh has possibly the best voice of the younger country stars, and Allison sounds like a perfect angel. They can sing whatever the heck they wanted. They could even sing Jingle Bells and I’d love it.
December 23, 2008 at 2:57 pm Permalink
Keith Whitley and Ms. Womack doing “The Christmas Song.” Admit it you can hear that in your head right now ad it sounds pretty good.
December 23, 2008 at 3:07 pm Permalink
I’d pair Willie and Miss Womack again.. I loved their collaboration on Mendocino.
I’m not sure what they’d sing.. but anything traditional non-religious.
December 23, 2008 at 3:29 pm Permalink
I would love to hear Ronnie Dunn and Reba do “It Won’t be Christmas with you”. This was a Brooks and Dunn Christmas song a few years back and I thought it was wonderful! I would love to hear a girl in it to break it up a little bit.
December 23, 2008 at 3:49 pm Permalink
I’d like to hear Gary Allan and Miranda Lambert sing “Please Come Home For Christmas”. Then again, a pairing of Marty Robbins and Carrie Underwood doing “O Holy Night” would probably sound magnificent!
December 23, 2008 at 4:02 pm Permalink
Leadbelly and Maria Callas.
Song?
Leadbelly’s “Bourgois Blues.”
Just because it would make me laugh.
December 23, 2008 at 4:12 pm Permalink
I would pair Dolly and George Strait. Their voices are so warm and expressive.
December 23, 2008 at 4:14 pm Permalink
How ’bout a twanged up “Baby It’s Cold Outside” with Randy Houser and Ashton Shepard?
December 23, 2008 at 4:19 pm Permalink
Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. I think they would have blended well on a take of Blue Christmas.
December 23, 2008 at 4:26 pm Permalink
I’d like to hear Trisha and Keith Urban sing “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.”

a quick story.
so I’m sitting around the house watchnig CMT, which I don’t have the luxury of doing as much as I’d like, and I was talking to someone or something when all of a sudden they start playing Elvis from the ‘68 comeback special. I immedietly get super excited and really start vibing on it – talking to my buddy about how awesome Elvis is, how amazing this concert was, how iconic the whole thing is – just really going on and on.
When all of a sudden, the camera pans to the crowd who starts screaming like something really amazing has happened. Out walks Martina freakin’ McBride digitized into the Elvis Presley ‘68 Comeback special.
I couldn’t believe my eyes.
So why, Brothers Vercher, why must you propagate this profanity?
It’s even doubly profane because not only is this Martina McBride in the ‘68 Comeback Special, but it’s singing a Christmas song – the Elvis Christmas song “Blue Christmas” no less!
so this is my question, why are you trying to ruin Christmas?
December 23, 2008 at 4:30 pm Permalink
I’d go for Gene Autry and Dale Evans doing a duet on “Santa Got Run Over By a Reindeer”! Or how about Trace Adkins and Lacy J. Dalton doing a duet on the Grinch song? Such difficult choices….(lol)
December 23, 2008 at 4:31 pm Permalink
Oops, I meant Grandma not Santa. Better lay off the eggnogg! Crikey!
December 23, 2008 at 4:41 pm Permalink
oh yeah, and for Christmas song, how about David Allen Coe and Tanya Tucker singing “Please Come Home For Christmas”
December 23, 2008 at 4:47 pm Permalink
Trace Adkins, Keith Urban, and George Strait…We Three Kings…hey two’s a crowd, three’s a party right?
December 23, 2008 at 5:17 pm Permalink
I would love to hear Lee Ann Womack and Joe Nichols duet on “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”.
December 23, 2008 at 6:13 pm Permalink
Keith Whitley and Alison Krauss on I’ll Be Home For Christmas, after hearing Alison cover one of his songs I couldn’t help but wonder how they’d sound together.
December 23, 2008 at 6:29 pm Permalink
Gary Allan and Lee Ann Womack singing “Christmas in Dixie.”
December 23, 2008 at 7:33 pm Permalink
Geez… this is a toughie. Just because it’s who I’ve been listening to a lot lately, lets have Laura Cantrell & Gram Parsons sing I’ll Be Home For Christmas.
December 23, 2008 at 7:35 pm Permalink
Trace Adkins and Jamey Johnson – Rudolph, for sure.
December 23, 2008 at 8:23 pm Permalink
Well, that’s one heck of a prize put together for the 10th day! And somewhat of a tricky question too..
Hmm, I’d have to go with Daughtry & Taylor Swift, singing “Silent Night.”
Just for the sake of curiosity. ;)

Gary Allan & Shelby Lynne doing Baby, It’s Cold Outside

Elvis and Dolly . I would like them to sing I’ll be home for Christmas.
December 24, 2008 at 8:05 am Permalink
I would love to hear Porter and Dolly do “He Stopped Loving Her Today.” What a great song and George a favorite was so great on it. But, I think the song would be a great one as a duet for those two.
December 24, 2008 at 8:06 am Permalink
I’d have to say Elvis Presley and Hank Williams Sr. singing “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”. The King of Rock and the King of Country together. That would be something!!!
December 24, 2008 at 8:48 am Permalink
I’ve been spoiled by having heard far too many good duets (King of the Road featuring Josh Turner and Randy Travis? Already been done… and done well) but I’ve been listening to the soundtrack of A Mighty Wind, and it hit me that I’d *love* to hear contemporary country artists tackle the more adventurous chord structures and harmonies of folk music.
I’ll start by suggesting Vince Gill, Keith Urban, and Josh Turner for The Folksmen’s Blood on the Coal.
Or maybe Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert could tackle something from Mitch & Mickey?
